Job Description

Position Title: Section Head (Medical Services)

Location: Sarlanagar Cement Works, Sedam

Job Purpose: To manage the Medical Services function by ensuring comprehensive occupational health care, emergency medical response, preventive healthcare, and statutory medical compliance for employees and dependents. The role is responsible for promoting workforce health, minimizing occupational health risks, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and managing medical facilities, manpower, and resources effectively.

Key Result Areas

Supporting Actions

Occupational Health & Medical Services

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to employees, contract workmen, and dependents.
  • Ensure effective diagnosis, treatment, and followup for occupational and general health issues.
  • Conduct preemployment, periodic, and special medical examinations as per statutory and organizational requirements.
  • Monitor occupational diseases and implement preventive and corrective health measures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of all medical records.

Emergency & Trauma Management

  • Ensure 24/7 readiness of medical services for emergency situations, accidents, and health crises.
  • Lead emergency response during industrial accidents, injuries, and medical emergencies.
  • Coordinate with safety, operations, and external hospitals for advanced medical care and referrals.
  • Ensure availability and maintenance of emergency medical equipment, ambulances, and firstaid facilities.
  • Conduct mock drills and emergency preparedness programs in coordination with safety teams.

Statutory Compliance & Legal Requirements

Ensure compliance with:

Factories Act, 1948

State Factory Rules

Employees State Insurance (ESI) Act (where applicable)

Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) guidelines (if applicable)

Maintain statutory medical records, registers, and reports.

Support inspections and audits by statutory authorities.

Preventive Healthcare & Wellness Programs

  • Design and implement preventive healthcare initiatives such as vaccination drives, health camps, and wellness programs.
  • Promote employee health awareness related to lifestyle diseases, ergonomics, mental health, and hygiene.
  • Analyze health data and trends to recommend preventive interventions.
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing absenteeism and improving employee wellbeing.

Medical Facility & Resource Management

  • Oversee the operation and upkeep of occupational health centers, clinics, and dispensaries.
  • Ensure availability of medicines, medical consumables, and equipment through effective inventory management.
  • Manage medical budgets and optimize costs without compromising quality of care.
  • Liaise with external hospitals, diagnostic centers, and insurance providers.

Team Leadership & Capability Development

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise nurses, paramedics, and support staff.
  • Ensure proper duty rosters, performance management, and skill development of the medical team.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, empathy, discipline, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with HR, Safety, and Administration departments for integrated health management.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Integration

  • Work closely with HSE teams to identify and mitigate occupational health risks.
  • Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations from a medical perspective.
  • Advise management on healthrelated safety improvements and workplace ergonomics.
  • Support implementation of healthrelated policies and procedures.
