About the Role
We are looking for an experienced ServiceNow Web Developer Consultant to support the design, development, and implementation of our new custom Employee Portal. This role goes beyond standard web development we need someone who combines strong ServiceNow development expertise with modern web technologies to create intuitive, performant, and scalable solutions.
This is a remote consulting role, offering the opportunity to work on a strategic transformation project within a global organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and customize the new ServiceNow Employee Portal (replacing the out-of-box portal).
- Develop custom widgets, pages, and layouts using Service Portal / UI Builder.
- Collaborate with stakeholders (ITSM, HR, Business teams) to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure portal performance, accessibility, and responsive design across devices.
- Integrate portal functionality with ServiceNow ITSM applications (incidents, requests, knowledge, catalog).
- Leverage modern web technologies to enhance user experience (UI/UX improvements, custom components).
- Work closely with Service Delivery Manager and BA team on development best practices, testing, and deployment.
- Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow development, including:
- Service Portal / UI Builder
- ITSM modules (Incidents, Requests, Catalog, Knowledge)
- Client Scripts, UI Policies, Business Rules, Script Includes
- Flow Designer / Workflow
- Proficiency in web development technologies:
- JavaScript (advanced), AngularJS, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap
- Experience with modern frameworks (React/Vue/Angular) is a plus
- Experience creating custom widgets and extending portal functionality.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, integrations, and JSON/XML.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow platform architecture, performance, and security best practices.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote consulting role.
Preferred Qualifications
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Implementation Specialist.
- Experience with ITSM processes and ServiceNow platform governance.
- Prior experience building custom portals in large enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with Agile / Scrum methodology.
