Job Description

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As a ServiceNow Technical Architect at MKS, you will provide end-to-end technical architecture leadership for the ServiceNow platform, partnering closely with ITSM, Global Support Operations, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, and cross-functional business teams.

You will be responsible for defining scalable architecture, technical standards, and integration strategies, ensuring that the platform supports enterprise needs with high performance, stability, and maintainability.

In this role, you will guide development teams, review solution designs, and ensure adherence to best practices and governance frameworks while enabling innovation through automation and digital workflows.

You will report to the Sr. Manager, Solution Engineering .

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Leading the technical architecture and design of the ServiceNow platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with enterprise architecture.
  • Defining and enforcing technical standards, design patterns, and development best practices across all ServiceNow implementations.
  • Designing robust integration architectures with SAP, RPA platforms, security tools, and other enterprise systems using REST, Integration Hub, and MID Server.
  • Reviewing and approving solution designs, scripts, and configurations, ensuring optimal use of low-code capabilities with minimal customization.
  • Providing hands-on guidance on:
    • Business Rules
    • Script Includes
    • Flow Designer
    • Integration patterns
  • Establishing and governing deployment and release strategies, including update sets, application repository, CI/CD pipelines, and rollback mechanisms.
  • Leading CMDB architecture and data strategy, ensuring accurate Configuration Item (CI) modeling, relationships, and support for impact analysis.
  • Driving performance optimization by identifying bottlenecks, improving system efficiency, and ensuring platform scalability.
  • Ensuring security, compliance, and access control standards (roles, ACLs, data protection) are implemented across the platform.
  • Supporting platform upgrades, patches, and technical improvements while minimizing disruption to operations.
  • Driving automation and innovation, including adoption of Flow Designer, Virtual Agent, and AI capabilities (Now Assist).
  • Collaborating with business and IT teams to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentoring developers and administrators, elevating technical capability across the team.
  • Identifying and mitigating technical risks, technical debt, and over-customization issues.

Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience in ServiceNow architecture, development, or platform engineering
  • Strong hands-on expertise in:
    • ServiceNow architecture
    • Scripting (JavaScript, Glide APIs)
    • Flow Designer and IntegrationHub
  • Deep understanding of:
    • ITSM processes (Incident, Change, Problem, SLAs)
    • CMDB and Discovery
    • Multi-module environments (ITSM, ITOM, SPM, ITAM)
  • Proven experience designing complex integrations with enterprise systems (SAP, APIs, RPA platforms)
  • Experience defining governance frameworks, architecture standards, and technical roadmaps
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and architectural decision-making skills
  • Experience working in Agile environments, supporting sprint planning and technical backlog prioritization
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to articulate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders

Preferred Skills: (Optional)

  • ServiceNow certifications:
    • CSA (Certified System Administrator)
    • CAD (Certified Application Developer)
    • CIS (ITSM, ITOM, Discovery, SPM, etc.)
  • ITIL certification (Foundation or higher)
  • Strong experience in CMDB governance, service mapping, and configuration lifecycle management
  • Exposure to AI capabilities (Virtual Agent, Now Assist)
  • Experience working in multi-vendor / global delivery models

Supervisory Scope: (Optional)

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to ServiceNow developers, administrators, and engineers
  • Guide architecture decisions across teams (direct reporting optional depending on structure)
  • Influence platform direction and technical decisions across multiple stakeholders
