Job Title: Server Administrator L2
Job Description:
The Server Administrator L2 will be responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's server environment, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role involves monitoring server performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing server configurations to support various applications and services. The administrator will also work closely with the IT team to assist with infrastructure improvements, backups, and disaster recovery processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and manage Windows and Linux servers
- Monitor server performance and troubleshoot any issues that arise
- Conduct regular maintenance, updates, and patches for server operating systems
- Ensure server security by implementing firewalls, access controls, and encryption
- Manage virtualized environments using tools such as VMware or Hyper-V
- Perform backup and recovery operations to safeguard data and ensure business continuity
- Collaborate with network teams to maintain proper network configurations
- Document system configurations, processes, and procedures for server management
- Assist in capacity planning and optimization of server resources
- Respond to incidents and service requests in a timely manner
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in Windows Server and Linux operating systems
- Experience with server virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
- Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP
- Understanding of network protocols and security best practices
- Familiarity with backup solutions and disaster recovery procedures
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
- Experience with scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash) is a plus
Tools Required:
- Server management tools (e.g., Microsoft Server Manager, Webmin)
- Virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V)
- Monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds)
- Configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
- Backup and recovery software (e.g., Veeam, Acronis)
- Security tools and firewalls
This role requires a strong understanding of server administration principles and a commitment to maintaining high levels of performance and security in the server environment. Candidates should possess relevant certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent experience in server administration roles.
