About ZOCA
We are at $2.5Mn+ ARR, 1000+ beauty and wellness businesses on the platform, and a $6M Series A behind us. We are not starting out. But we are also nowhere close to where we want to be.
Zoca is building the growth infrastructure that small beauty and wellness businesses have never had access to. Online visibility, bookings, payments, customer retention, voice AI. All of it, in one place, built to work without a full-time marketing or ops team running it.
We want people who will think, challenge, ship, and own outcomes.
About The Role
SEO is changing faster right now than at any point in the last decade. Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI-driven surfaces are eating traditional search traffic and generating their own answers to local queries. Most SEO professionals are still optimising for a world that is shifting under them.
If you see that shift as a problem, this is not the right role. If you have been digging into AEO and GEO, have opinions on what businesses need to do to show up in AI-generated answers, and want to work somewhere those opinions directly shape a product used by 1000+ businesses, read on.
This role has two dimensions. You own Zoca's own organic presence. And you work with the Discovery product team to ensure that what we build for customers reflects current best practice in SEO, local SEO, and answer engine optimisation. What you learn in practice informs the product. What the product ships reaches 1000+ businesses.
What You Will Own
- Zoca's SEO strategy and execution. Keyword research, on-page optimisation, technical SEO, content briefs, link building. We should own page one for every high-intent term a beauty or wellness business owner searches when looking for AI-powered growth tools.
- The AEO playbook. What does it take for an SMB to be cited by ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews Schema, entity optimisation, content structure, citation signals. You define this, test it, and update it as the landscape changes.
- Product collaboration. Working with the Discovery PM and engineering team to translate the SEO and AEO playbook into product features. Automation and templates that the product runs on behalf of every customer.
- Content direction. Building the content calendar based on what business owners are searching for, what AI systems are answering, and where the gaps are. Briefing the team, not just generating ideas.
- Search landscape monitoring. When Google updates, when a new AI search behaviour emerges, when local search patterns shift. You notice first and translate the implication for both Zoca's marketing and Zoca's product.
- Competitive intelligence. Understanding what our competitors are doing in search, where their gaps are, and where we can move faster or smarter.
Why this role matters
Most SEO tools and agencies have not figured out AEO yet. We have a product that needs to deliver AEO value to 1000+ customers at scale. The person in this role is the bridge between what is true in the market and what the product does about it.
From a personal growth angle: AEO and GEO expertise is genuinely rare right now. The specialist who builds real depth here over the next 12 to 18 months will be ahead of almost everyone in the field. This role gives you a live product as a laboratory to develop that depth.
What We Are Looking For
- 3 to 6 years of hands-on SEO experience. Technical SEO, local SEO, content strategy. Not just high-level advisory. You have done crawl audits, fixed technical issues, written briefs that led to content that ranked.
- Active engagement with AEO and GEO. You should have a real point of view on how AI systems surface local business information. What schema types matter. What entity optimisation means in practice. What you would do differently today versus a year ago.
- Local SEO depth. Google Business Profile optimisation, NAP consistency, local citation building, review signals, and how these interact with AI-generated local answers.
- Comfort working with product teams. You can explain SEO and AEO decisions to engineers and PMs in terms that lead to features being built, not just recommendations being filed away.
- Data-first working style. Search Console, Analytics, rank tracking, competitive tools. You make decisions from data and can present a clear picture of what is working.
- Intellectual honesty. This is a space that nobody fully understands yet. We want someone who says here is what I know, here is what I am figuring out rather than someone who performs expertise they do not have.
What This Is Not
This is not a content marketing role with an SEO tag on it. You will shape how the Discovery product works for 1000+ customers. The work you do has product-level reach, not just traffic-level reach. If that scale of impact sounds interesting, we would like to hear from you.
