Job Overview

The Senior Trader Basmati Rice role at Reliance Retail is a full-time, senior-level position based in Navi Mumbai. This role requires 10-15 years of relevant work experience and focuses on overseeing all trading operations related to Basmati Rice, ensuring profitable and effective market performance in line with company objectives.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Basmati Rice Trading expertise (Mandatory skill) with a deep understanding of local and international grain markets and commodity regulations.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in overall commodity trading, including negotiations, sourcing, and market risk management specific to agricultural products.
  • Proven track record of managing end to end ownership in rice trading cycles, from procurement to final sales execution.
  • Strong capabilities in designing and executing market strategy for rice trading, driving growth and market share expansion.
  • P&L ownership for the rice commodity, with the ability to analyze financial performance and implement margin-improvement initiatives.
  • Exceptional vendor coordination skills for partnering with growers, suppliers, logistics providers, and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Solid understanding of quality assurance, compliance regulations, and trade documentation required for domestic and export rice trade.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, ensuring alignment with business objectives and partner expectations.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Lead the trading operations for Basmati Rice, overseeing procurement, sales, logistics, and pricing strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive market entry and expansion strategies for rice commodity trading, both domestic and export.
  • Own end-to-end business processes for Basmati Rice, ensuring highest standards in quality, delivery timelines, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and logistics agents for seamless and compliant trade execution aligned with company goals.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, commodity prices, and demand-supply dynamics to inform strategy and trading decisions.
  • Manage inventory levels, sales pipelines, and track performance against P&L targets to optimize trading efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure all transactions adhere to regulatory and company compliance requirements, preparing all necessary documentation for audit and reporting.
  • Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to junior traders and team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
