Purpose
Generation & Purified Water Distribution System Operator is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of the Water Generation Unit (RO/UF/Soft Water/Pre-treatment) and the Purified Water (PW) Distribution Loop. The role ensures uninterrupted availability of water at required quality standards to support manufacturing, QC, and allied functions while adhering to cGMP and regulatory norms.

Job Responsibilities / Deliverables
Operation of Water Generation System
- Operate and monitor water system equipment including:
- Raw water pre-treatment (Sand filter, Carbon filter, Softener)
- RO/UF modules
- Heat exchangers / PW generation skids
- Storage tanks & circulation pumps
- Maintain system parameters such as flow rate, conductivity, pressure, temperature, and microbial control.
- Timely start-up, shutdown, and smooth operation during shift.
Monitoring & Control of PW Distribution System
- Monitor the Purified Water Loop circulation parameters:
Temperature, flow velocity, pressure, return line quality, tank level & sanitization cycles.
- Perform daily sampling support activities for PW loop.
- Assist in hot water / chemical sanitization as per SOPs.
Compliance, GMP & Documentation
- Maintain all utility logbooks and PW generation records accurately.
- Ensure timely completion of:
- Shift checklists
- Sanitization logs
- Trend sheets for conductivity, temperature, TOC, and microbial limits
- Assist QA/QC during validation, sampling, and regulatory audits.
- Immediately report any deviations, alarms, or out-of-spec conditions.
Maintenance Support
- Support preventive & breakdown maintenance of water system equipment.
- Assist in filter media change, membrane flushing, pump maintenance, sensor calibration support, etc.
- Coordinate with engineering teams during planned shutdown activities
Safety & Good Engineering Practice
- Follow all EHS and GMP guidelines while handling chemicals (CIP chemicals, sanitizing agents).
- Ensure safe operation of pumps, valves, tanks, and electrical panels.
- Adhere to Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify abnormalities and improvement opportunities in system performance.
- Ensure minimal water wastage and optimize system efficiency
Qualifications Education
- ITI / Diploma in any Trade.
Additional Notes Skills & Competencies
- Good understanding of Pharma water systems (RO, UF, PW loop).
- Knowledge of PW quality parameters (Conductivity, TOC, microbial specifications).
- Basic understanding of pumps, valves, PLC panels, and instrumentation.
- Ability to interpret utility trends, gauges, and system diagrams.
- Experience in Pharma OSD Utilities (mandatory preference).
- Exposure to regulatory audits: USFDA, EU-GMP, WHO.
