In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Provide technical leadership for permanent magnet design, characterization, and optimization of magnetic products.
Lead electromagnetic design, analysis, and selection of permanent magnets including NdFeB, SmCo, Alnico, and ferrites.
Perform magnetic circuit modeling, hysteresis analysis, flux density simulations, and field-strength calculations using advanced tools.
Operate and utilize all magnetics laboratory equipment including permeameters, flux meters, gauss meters, coercimeters, Helmholtz coils, magnetic field mappers, and associated tooling.
Define and execute magnet validation protocols including B-H curve measurement, coercivity, flux mapping, temperature dependence, demagnetization tests, and long-term stability assessments.
Develop new company standards for permanent magnet components used in our products. Provide design guides for engineers involved in products using permanent magnetic components.
Collaborate with mechanical and electronics engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of magnets into sensors and actuator assemblies.
Conduct magnetic material characterization, supplier evaluation, incoming inspection strategy, and reliability studies for permanent magnets.
Drive R&D initiatives focused on new magnet materials, improved magnetic circuit efficiency, and performance enhancements.
Stay aware of new developments permanent magnet field.
Carry out detailed root-cause analysis for magnet-related issues such as degradation, corrosion, thermal instability, magnetic drift, or assembly misalignment.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including magnetic specifications, test results, calibration records, and analysis reports.
Support certification activities by ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards for magnetics, sensors, and industrial safety.
Guide junior engineers and cross-functional teams through magnetic design principles, lab equipment usage, and analytical techniques.
For This Role, You Will Need:
Master's or PhD in Physics (Preferred), Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline with specialization in magnetics.
Minimum 10 years of experience in permanent magnet design, magnetic materials, or applied magnetics engineering.
Strong expertise in magnetic theory, hysteresis behavior, B-H loop analysis, temperature effects, and magnet selection.
Strong understanding of magnetic loss mechanisms such as hysteresis, eddy currents, dynamic losses, and temperaturedependent demagnetization.
Hands-on experience with magnet test equipment such as permeameters, fluxmeters, gaussmeters, coercimeters, Helmholtz coils, and magnetic field mappers.
Proficiency with magnetic simulation tools such as ANSYS Maxwell, JMAG, Simcenter MAGNET, or equivalent.
Knowledge of magnet manufacturing processes including sintering, coating, machining tolerances, and material grading.
Strong collaboration skills with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams for magnet integration.
Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Experience with sensors, actuators, or industrial magnetic products is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:
Experience working with magnetic switch technologies.
Familiarity with corrosion protection, magnet aging behavior, and long-term drift analysis.
Exposure to magnetic calibration standards and field uniformity test systems.
Familiarity with integrating magnetic simulation results into systemlevel models (Simulink, Simscape, or multidomain solvers).
Experience working on magnetic simulations for industrial sensors, actuators, or safety products.
Ability to convert high level ideas into practical
High level of understanding of magnetic with hands on product problem solving with hands on experience
Expect to spend 40% to 50% time on lab testing
