Senior Systems Engineer - JunOS/EVO Development

The role involves developing and enhancing JunOS / Junos EVO software platforms for next-generation Access, Aggregation, Metro, and Mobile Backhaul deployments. You will be responsible for software design, implementation, debugging, and ensuring high performance and reliability of networking systems in live environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development & Engineering

• Design, develop, and enhance JunOS/Junos EVO software for networking platforms.
• Implement features and optimize software performance using C/C++.
• Develop and maintain user-space and kernel-space modules for enterprise networking systems.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software issues affecting performance and reliability.

System & Platform Support

• Provide technical assistance for live customer deployments and escalations.
• Ensure hardware-software compatibility and influence software design for new hardware components.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement robust software solutions.

Innovation & Strategy

• Contribute to platform evolution and innovation strategy for service provider, data center, and metro ethernet markets.
• Evaluate and integrate modern software design patterns to improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability.
• Assist in architectural reviews and decision-making for software solutions.

Quality & Testing

• Write and execute test plans for new and enhanced software features.
• Develop debugging tools, simulation environments, and automation scripts for software validation.
• Ensure software meets performance, scalability, and reliability standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 410 years of hands-on experience in software development for networking or system-level software.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in C/C++ development and debugging.
• Hands-on experience with Unix/Linux internals including processes, kernel, socket programming, and IPC.
• Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/UDP/IPv4/IPv6) and L2/L3 protocols (IGMP, PIM, EVPN, NG MVPN).
• Experience with service provider technologies (Access, Aggregation, Metro, Mobile Backhaul).
• Familiarity with DNX family hardware (Jericho/Jericho2) and associated software.
• Exposure to distributed computing, microservices, cloud-native software design, and DevOps principles.
