Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to help support and maintain our enterprise storage and backup infrastructure. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of hands-on experience managing large, complex enterprise environments and has strong technical expertise with Pure Storage, Dell Storage, IBM Storage, Cohesity, and AWS Backup. Experience with AWS cloud services is preferred.
This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, performance, and protection of the organization's data across on‑prem and cloud environments
Role Responsibility
- Understand technical/business requirements gathered from the business units.
- Coordinate and leading the Analysis, design, and documentation of platforms/systems to meet enterprise requirements.
- Install, customize, maintain, test, and troubleshoot operating systems and other systems software.
- Configure, install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot hardware systems.
- Perform root cause analysis to quickly recover from service interruptions, and to prevent recurring problems.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging technologies for enterprise use to consistently drive down total cost of ownership.
- Experience in AWS workloads.
- Support, administer, and optimize enterprise storage platforms including Pure Storage, Dell Storage, and IBM Storage.
- Manage and maintain backup and recovery platforms, primarily using Cohesity and AWS Backup.
- Act as an escalation point for our operations team when troubleshooting issues.
- Implement and maintain replication, snapshots, and data protection strategies across storage systems.
- Conduct capacity planning, performance tuning, and lifecycle management for storage and backup environments.
- Ensure backup/restore reliability and assist with disaster recovery testing and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (cloud, network, security, application teams) to support business needs and project initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation including runbooks, architecture diagrams, configuration details, and SOPs.
- Respond to incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
- Monitor, manage, and tune platforms to ensure expected availability and performance levels are achieved.
- Coordinate activities with internal/external technology owners/service providers.
- Plan and implement life cycle management of software and hardware.
What You Need To Succeed (Minimum Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in an IT field, in addition to two years applicable experience in the design/administration/support of one or more platforms; or 6 years of experience in Windows Server design and implementation of large enterprise environments
- 4+ years experience supporting or engineering large and complex enterprise infrastructure.

- Understanding of enterprise data protection, RPO/RTO concepts, replication, snapshot management, and backup best practices.
- Experience with storage networking fundamentals (FC, zoning, multipathing).
- 0) strategy, immutable backups, air-gapping, replication (sync/async), and DR.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance issues across storage, backup, and related infrastructure layers.
- Proficiency in automation/scripting (PowerShell and/or Python) and experience with REST APIs for storage/backup platforms.
- Strong documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Candidate must have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), demonstrated teamwork skills, be innovative, creative and have strong problem-solving abilities.
- AWS experience (preferred): familiarity with S3/EBS/EFS, FSx, storage gateway, lifecycle/tiering, KMS, IAM, and cost optimization.
- Experience with infrastructure automation or IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
- VMware or virtualization platform experience.
- Experience supporting enterprise monitoring/logging solutions.
- Relevant certifications (AWS, Pure Storage, Dell, IBM, Cohesity) are a plus.
- Experience across IT domains such as application development, infrastructure, technical support and operations, or continuity of business
- A history of driving transformational change
