Job Description
The Senior System Engineer role in our Engineering IT Team is essential in supporting Magna's product development tools. These tools include a managed CAx environment, a managed virtual desktop environment, License Management, and CAx software. The role will be part of a team that supports the organization's engineering development of IT related activities throughout its lifecycle.
Major Responsibilities
Administer the CAD User Service, providing a fully managed CAx environment tailored to user needs and aligned with various OEM configurations and communication requirements.
Administer and maintain engineering license servers including hands-on administration and troubleshooting of all license servers (e.g., Dassault CATIA, FlexLM, SIMULIA, ABAQUS, MATLAB, Ansys), ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
Administer IT Engineering Service Systems, including but not limited to hardware, software OS, and user support for engineering tools and platforms.
Ensure stability, security, performance, and capacity of systems and applications, and maintain accurate, uptodate documentation.
Provide onsite support to engineering users at designated engineering office locations and remote users.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving Hardware, software, networking, OS and security administration. Diagnose connection or checkout failures, analyze log files, and work directly with users to resolve access problems.
Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to ensure seamless integration, performance, and reliability of CAD, PLM, and License systems.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using PowerShell and batch files to streamline operations, improve efficiency, and enhance user workflows.
Skills and Competencies
o Application Knowledge: Server expertise including installation, administration, configuration, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, monitoring, and security procedures.
o Experienced with CAD environments [UG (NX), CATIA, Pro-E, PDM Systems]
o Experienced with FlexLM and DSLS License software
o Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, and Windows batch scripting.
o Communication Skills (English): Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, effectively collaborate with various departments, and provide clear instructions and support to users
Knowledge and Education
o Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or relevant field.
o Technical certification: Microsoft Windows.
o Expertise in system installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, monitoring, and security procedures
Work Experience
o 3 to 5+ years of IT experience with hardware and software installation and maintenance in a multi-domain, multi-site network environment preferably automotive IT Engineering support.
