Senior Staff Software Engineer – Security Observability (Bangalore)

Job Overview:

We're looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to help shape the next generation of Security Observability at SolarWinds.

This role is focused on building high-scale, cloud-native systems that help customers monitor, understand, and secure their infrastructure in real time. You'll operate at a Staff level - owning architecture, influencing technical direction, and working across teams to deliver impactful platform capabilities.

This is a hands-on role for engineers who enjoy solving complex distributed systems challenges while driving technical leadership across the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build scalable, cloud-native backend systems using Java and modern frameworks
• Own and drive architecture and system design decisions across services and platforms
• Develop and operate distributed systems handling high-throughput data (logs, metrics, events)
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to align technical solutions with business goals
• Lead technical initiatives and influence engineering direction across teams
• Mentor engineers and promote best practices in system design, coding, and operations
• Contribute to improving performance, reliability, and scalability of the platform
• Stay current with emerging technologies and apply them where relevant

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree with 14+ years of experience, or Master's degree with 10+ years of experience in Computer Science or a related field
• Strong backend engineering experience with Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks)
• Proven experience building microservices and distributed systems in production environments
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Solid understanding of system design, scalability, high availability, and performance optimization
• Experience building or contributing to SaaS or enterprise-grade platforms
• Strong understanding of data storage technologies, including both RDBMS and NoSQL
• Familiarity with event-driven systems or streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka) is a plus
• Exposure to CI/CD, infrastructure as code, or modern DevOps practices is a plus
• Proven ability to influence technical direction, lead architectural decisions, and mentor engineers
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
