Job Description

Looking for Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with 8+ years of experience

based out of Chennai /Kolkata / Pune / WFH / Remote for a leading software services company.

Expertise in managing Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Database environments. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in database administration, migrations from on-premises to Azure, and managing large-scale databases. Familiarity with data modeling, ETL processes, and reporting tools is preferred. Experience in handling healthcare data and adhering to healthcare data security protocols will be highly valued. This role demands excellent communication skills, including experience working with US clients.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL Databases.
  • Plan and execute migrations from on-premises SQL Servers to Azure SQL DB.
  • Manage large-scale databases, including those with multiple terabytes of data.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries for performance and scalability.
  • Ensure database security, backup, and recovery procedures are in place and operational.
  • Support data modeling and ETL workflows using tools like SSIS and Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Collaborate with reporting teams and support tools like Power BI and SSRS.
  • Implement best practices for database design, management, and performance tuning.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare data security standards when managing healthcare data.
  • Regularly report status updates to stakeholders, including US clients.

Qualifications:

Must-Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in SQL Server DBA roles.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Azure SQL Database.
  • Proven experience in on-prem to Azure SQL DB migrations.
  • Strong expertise in managing and maintaining databases with large data volumes (multiple terabytes).
  • Advanced SQL writing and optimization skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Data Modeling and ETL processes using SSIS or Azure Data Factory (ADF).
  • Experience with Power BI, SSRS, or other reporting tools.
  • Prior experience handling healthcare data and ensuring data security compliance.
