Building the right technology foundation for Infrastructure & platforms is vital to success at the scale of Walmart. Our team builds and maintains the foundational technologies that support the tech organization. Included in this are data platforms, enterprise architecture, DevOps, cloud computing, and infrastructure. All of these products and services are supported by scalable and powerful infrastructure, ensuring a secure and seamless employee and customer experience across stores, digital channels, and distribution centers.
What you'll do:
As a Senior Software Engineer on Walmart's Logging Platform team, you will play a key role in developing and deploying machine learning solutions to analyze and optimize Walmart's large-scale log data. You will collaborate with engineers and data scientists to build intelligent systems for log analysis, anomaly detection, and predictive monitoring, directly supporting Walmart's operational excellence and digital transformation
- Design and build high-performance backend services and APIs using Java (or Golang/Rust) in a cloud-native, microservices environment.
- Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational excellence (SLOs, reliability, scalability).
- Instrument and monitor systems using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana to drive observability, performance tuning, and incident reduction.
- Communicate clearlyexplain complex technical trade-offs and designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 6+ years of industry experience in software engineering preferably in large-scale, distributed systems.
- Design and build high-performance backend services and APIs using Java (or Golang/Rust) in a cloud-native, microservices environment.
- Own services end-to-end: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational excellence (SLOs, reliability, scalability).
- Instrument and monitor systems using OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana to drive observability, performance tuning, and incident reduction.
- Communicate clearlyexplain complex technical trade-offs and designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
- Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across engineering, data science, and business teams.
- Deep technical expertise in engineering and software development.
- A proactive, ownership-driven approach to problem-solving and project delivery.
- Ability to interpret data and trends, diagnose complex issues, and formulate effective action plans.
