Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Power BI Engineer with strong experience in designing and delivering interactive dashboards, reports, and data models. This role requires expertise in Power BI and familiarity with other open-source visualization tools (such as Plotly, Dash, or Apache Superset), along with a solid background in data analysis and data modeling. You will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to transform raw data into actionable insights.

Job Responsibilities

  • Dashboard & Report Development
    • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports for business intelligence and analytics.
    • Implement advanced DAX calculations, measures, and KPIs for complex business logic.
    • Create data models and optimize relationships for performance and scalability.
  • Data Integration & Transformation
    • Connect Power BI to various data sources (SQL Server, Snowflake, Databricks, APIs).
    • Perform data cleansing, transformation, and enrichment using Power Query and M language.
    • Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure efficient data pipelines and refresh strategies.
  • Visualization & Storytelling
    • Deliver compelling, user-friendly visualizations that communicate insights effectively.
    • Explore and implement open-source visualization frameworks (Plotly, Dash, Apache Superset) for custom analytics needs.
    • Apply best practices for UI/UX in dashboards and reports.
  • Performance Optimization
    • Optimize Power BI datasets for large-scale data (DirectQuery, Aggregations, Incremental Refresh).
    • Monitor and improve report performance and query execution times.
  • Data Analysis & Insights
    • Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights.
    • Partner with business teams to define metrics, KPIs, and analytical requirements.
  • Governance & Security
    • Implement row-level security (RLS) and manage access controls.
    • Ensure compliance with organizational data governance and security standards.
Required Qualifications

  • 57 years of experience in BI development and data visualization.
  • Strong expertise in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling, performance tuning).
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and transformation.
  • Hands-on experience with Python for data analysis and visualization (e.g., Pandas, Plotly).
  • Familiarity with open-source visualization tools (Dash, Plotly, Apache Superset).
  • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure preferred) and integration with Power BI Service.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, or other modern data platforms.
  • Knowledge of Azure Data Factory (ADF) or similar orchestration tools.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD for BI assets and version control (Git).
  • Understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Contributions to BI communities, blogs, or open-source projects.
