How will you make an impact in this role

Role Description/Requirements

  • Hands-on engineer with expertise in developing complex, large-scale enterprise Microservice applications . Expertise in Go, Kafka, Microservices REST APIs. Responsible for technical aspects of software engineering for assigned applications including design, developing prototypes, and coding assignments.
  • Partners with product team and other internal teams and technical product managers to deliver new features/improvements to the platform.
  • Establish and accepts responsibility for engineering practices across teams for example the code review, build and release process and the effectiveness of the retrospective.
  • Experience writing software in Go.
  • Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Exposure to Event driven architecture.
  • Develop Unit tests/Component test cases using Go.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, train, fine-tune, and optimize REST API
  • Exposure in building cloud-native platforms on modern tech stack: AWS, Java, Spring Framework, RESTful API, and container-based application.
  • Ability to learn new tools and paradigms in data engineering and science.
  • Proven experience attracting, hiring, retaining, and leading top engineering talent.
  • Creative, passionate, and experienced leader of both people and technology.
  • Team Management savvy (e.g., planning, budgetary control, people management, vendor management, etc.).
  • Experience with DevOps, reliability engineering, and platform monitoring.
  • Well versed in AGILE, DevOps and Program Management methods.
  • Enterprise thinking - find opportunities to educate and learn from other groups, including mobile & web engineering teams
  • Solves technical problems outside of day-to-day responsibilities
  • Develop team's strategy and prioritize technology initiatives
  • Ensure frictionless CI/CD pipeline from the teams
  • Able to effectively communicate the concerns and capacity of the team to partners
  • Introduces new and impactful technologies based on research, POC efforts and independent research

Minimum Qualifications

Technology Core Competencies

  • Experience in application design, software development, and testing in an Agile environment using Go

  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including ElasticSearch, PostgreSQL, Couchbase, or Cassandra.

  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs for high volume clients.

  • Experience with continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Github).

  • Experience with automated build and test frameworks a plus.

  • Experience in American Express Technologies is highly desired.

  • A proven hunger to learn new technologies and translate them into working software.

  • Experience with container and container orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience with Atlassian software development and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).

  • Strong ability to develop unique, outside the box ideas

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving/quantitative skills

  • Willing to take risks, experiment, and share fresh perspectives

  • Aptitude for learning and applying programming concepts.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners.

Preferred Additional:

  • Knowledge of Loyalty/Rewards and Credit card industry

  • Experience with coding skills across a variety of distributed technologies

  • Experience with open-source frameworks is a plus - especially maintaining or contributing to open source projects!

  • Experience with a broad range of software languages (Java/Go/Javascript) and payments technologies

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Systems
  • 8+ years of experience.
