Summary

We are looking for a seasoned and practical Lead Java Developer to spearhead the design, construction, and deployment of scalable, cloud-agnostic, and cloud-native solutions spanning both GCP and AWS. This position merges advanced technical expertise in Java (JDK 17+) with strategic leadership, guaranteeing the delivery of secure, robust, and high-performance systems. You will be responsible for guiding development teams, formulating detailed low-level designs derived from solution architectures, and partnering with business analysts and stakeholders to ensure technology initiatives align seamlessly with organizational objectives.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and sustain backend features and services for DrinkPrime's core platform utilizing Java and Spring Boot.
  
• Engineer, refine, and optimize database strategies using SQL, Spring, and both relational and NoSQL systems to guarantee data integrity, security, and optimal performance.
  
• Construct and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS and GCP, prioritizing interoperability, resilience, high availability, and cost-effectiveness.
  
• Establish and enforce secure authentication protocols, including token-based security, robust session management, and credential hashing.
  
• Provision and oversee infrastructure via Terraform (IaC) within diverse multi-cloud settings.
  
• Partner with architects, engineers, DevOps specialists, and cross-functional groups to deliver scalable backend architectures.
  
• Author and sustain automated test suites for new and modified code, with a specific focus on high-risk system components.
  
• Mentor, coach, and evaluate the engineering team's output, conducting thorough reviews of pull requests from junior developers, including verification that AI-generated code meets requirements and handles edge cases.
  
• Utilize messaging systems like RabbitMQ and API gateways such as Kong as services are decoupled from the monolithic structure.
  
• Engage in requirements analysis sessions, advocating for comprehensive written specifications prior to development to identify negative scenarios and edge cases early.
  
• Coordinate with the Test Lead to confirm that new features are testable and adequately covered before deployment.
  
• Contribute to sprint planning, code reviews, and architectural discussions by providing accurate effort estimates and risk assessments before commitments are finalized.
  
  

Requirements

Requirements:

• Core Java: Demonstrated mastery of Java (JDK 11 & 17+), backend development principles, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), Effective Java practices, and design patterns.
  
• Spring Framework: Proven hands-on capability with Spring Boot and experience in developing RESTful microservices.
  
• Cloud Platforms: Extensive background in AWS and GCP, including the creation of cloud-native and multi-cloud applications.
  
• Infrastructure & DevOps: Proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and managing CI/CD pipelines for cloud infrastructure automation.
  
• Architecture: Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and cross-cloud design, with a focus on high availability, resiliency, performance tuning, and cost optimization.
  
• Engineering Practices: Experience conducting code reviews, working within Agile/Scrum methodologies, implementing observability and monitoring, troubleshooting production issues, and adhering to security best practices.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous involvement in the incremental extraction of services from a monolith (e.g., strangler-fig pattern).
  
• Familiarity with Kubernetes or Helm-based deployments and CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins or Bitbucket Pipelines.
  
• Knowledge of observability platforms such as Grafana and Sentry for diagnosing production incidents.
  
• Background in mentoring junior developers or leading small feature teams.
  
• Domain experience in field service, workforce scheduling, or subscription and logistics platforms.
