Summary of The Job
This role leads the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems for our platforms. The position combines hands-on backend engineering (using Python, Django, FastAPI, MySQL) with architectural leadership, including setting engineering best practices and driving technical decisions. The role also involves optimizing infrastructure (Redis, Kubernetes), collaborating closely with leadership on product strategy, and mentoring engineers to foster a strong, innovation-driven engineering culture.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure backend services using Python (Django & FastAPI) and MySQL
- Lead architectural decisions and establish engineering best practices
- Own the backend development of our B2B platform, focusing on scaling our core systems for enterprise performance
- Optimize Redis and Kubernetes-based infrastructure for high-scale operations
- Work closely with the team lead and founders to define product vision and execution strategies that support our enterprise partners
- Lead technical planning sessions and architecture reviews
- Foster a culture of innovation by establishing best practices and mentoring junior engineers in logical problem-solving
- Lead code reviews and technical discussions
- Stay ahead of industry trends by maximizing the use of AI productivity tools to accelerate the shipping of high-impact features
Qualifications:
- Strong foundation in Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) with the ability to design scalable solutions conceptually
- Thrives in fast-paced startup environments where meeting timelines is priority #1 and can guide others on balancing functional vs perfect code
- Quick learner who can jump into complex codebases with minimal hand-holding and can mentor others to develop this ability
- 3+ years of experience with deep expertise in Python, MySQL, and scaling systems at enterprise level
- Proven track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring team members
Bonus Points:
- Expert at prompting and using AI tools (Copilot, Cursor) to maximize development speed
- Hands-on experience with AWS platform and Kubernetes (k8s)
- Prior experience in building enterprise-grade APIs or third-party integrations
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, observability, and Infrastructure-as-code
