Senior Software Development Engineer in Test - Database Automation

Key Responsibilities:

Automation Framework Development:

• Design, develop, and enhance Fivetran's test automation framework using Java, Python, and Pytest.
• Integrate new features and open-source libraries into the framework to support end-to-end testing across diverse environments.
• Build proofs of concept (POCs) and prototypes to validate new automation strategies and tools.

Test Strategy & Quality Assurance:

• Review requirements, design documents, and technical specifications to provide timely, actionable feedback.
• Create, maintain, and execute automated test suites across functional, integration, and system levels.
• Analyze, triage, and resolve defects, ensuring high standards of software quality before production releases.

Collaboration & Coaching:

• Partner closely with development teams to align on test coverage, automation strategy, and CI/CD best practices.
• Mentor and coach fellow engineers to develop strong automation and quality engineering skills.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, scalability, and test efficiency.

Continuous Integration & DevOps:

• Configure and maintain test automation pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Buildkite, and Bazel.
• Monitor, optimize, and report test automation performance within CI/CD pipelines.
• Work with Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform to automate infrastructure setup and testing environments.

Customer-Focused Testing:

• Understand real-world customer use cases to design test scenarios that reflect practical challenges.
• Collaborate with support and product teams to reproduce and validate customer-reported issues.
