Healthcare Intelligence is the pillar that focuses on creating intelligent products within Providence and provides unique opportunities in Product Development, Product Design, Data Engineering, Operations, Data Science, BI Reporting and Data Analytics on cloud stack. We are a group of professionals who work towards enabling decisions that improve patient and caregiver experience.

Now, as we face a new frontier-a changing health care landscape - we are looking for pioneering and compassionate individuals to plan for the next century and who can work on re-imagining the future of care with cutting-edge technologies such as big data, machine learning, artificial intelligence, IoT, and blockchain that enhance patient outcomes and experiences and more importantly, drive a lasting social impact.

What you will be responsible for

As a Snowflake Administrator, you will play a critical role in designing, operating, and optimizing Providence's enterprise Snowflake data platform. You will ensure the platform is secure, scalable, performant, and cost‑efficient while supporting analytics, AI, and business use cases across the organization. Working closely with data engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders, you will enable seamless onboarding, automation‑first administration, and self‑service capabilities. Your role focuses on driving platform reliability, cost governance, and continuous optimization by leveraging Snowflake internals, serverless capabilities, and emerging Snowflake features.

  • Own end‑to‑endSnowflake platform administration, ensuring the platform is secure, performant, cost‑optimized, and scalable to support enterprise analytics and AI use cases.
  • Design, implement, and manageSnowflake security architecture, including role hierarchy, access controls, data governance patterns, and least‑privilege access aligned with enterprise security standards.
  • Drivewarehouse and compute strategy, including right‑sizing, workload isolation, multi‑cluster configurations, and warehouse lifecycle management to balance performance and cost.
  • Leadperformance optimization effortsby deeply understanding Snowflake internals and proactively tuning queries, warehouses, storage patterns, and platform configurations.
  • Implement and operationalizeInfrastructure as Code (IaC)for Snowflake administration, enabling repeatable, automated, and scalable platform operations.
  • Build and promoteautomation and self‑service capabilitiesto reduce manual administrative effort and improve onboarding velocity for Snowflake consumers.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineering, analytics, AI, and business stakeholders toonboard new use casesonto Snowflake and guide them on best practices.
  • Evaluate, implement, and governSnowflake serverless features(e.g., tasks, streams, dynamic tables, search optimization, auto‑clustering) and adopt them where they deliver measurable value.
  • Define and managestorage strategies at table and schema levels, selecting the right storage and optimization mechanisms based on data access patterns, cost, and performance requirements.
  • Monitor and governdata ingestion pipelines into Snowflake, ensuring reliable data availability, timely processing, and quick resolution of ingestion failures.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams, vendors, and downstream consumers todiagnose, fix, and prevent ingestion issues, while continuously improving ingestion reliability and SLAs.
  • Provideexpert guidance on Snowflake AI services and Cortex offerings, helping stakeholders choose the right capabilities for their use cases and adopt them optimally.
  • Monitor and trackSnowflake consumption and costs on a monthly basis, identify cost outliers, recommend optimizations, and present insights and updates to leadership.
  • Stay current withSnowflake's weekly feature releases, evaluate new capabilities, and consolidate meaningful enhancements into a monthly view for potential adoption.
  • Ensure platform reliability, operational readiness, and continuous improvement through proactive monitoring, documentation, and best‑practice enforcement.

What would your day look like

  • Monitor Snowflake platform health, performance, security posture, and cost metrics proactively address incidents, user requests, and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with data engineering, analytics, and AI teams to review use‑case architectures, onboard new workloads, and provide guidance on performance optimization, warehouse strategy, and cost efficiency.
  • Design, automate, and maintain Snowflake administration using Infrastructure as Code, enabling self‑service capabilities and reducing manual operational effort.
  • Partner with Enterprise Security, Cloud Infrastructure, and Governance teams to enforce security standards, manage role hierarchies, and remediate any policy or compliance gaps.
  • Analyze and resolvedata ingestion and pipeline failuresby identifying root causes across upstream sources, file delivery, schema changes, or Snowflake configuration issues.
  • Work closely withdata engineering teams, external vendors, and downstream usersto troubleshoot ingestion issues, coordinate fixes, and restore data pipelines within agreed SLAs.
  • Analyze monthly consumption trends, identify cost outliers, recommend optimizations, and evaluate new Snowflake features and capabilities for enterprise adoption.

Who are we looking for

  • 3-6 years of hands‑on experience inSnowflake administration, platform engineering, or cloud data platform operations.
  • Strong expertise inSnowflake warehouse/compute management, including sizing strategies, workload isolation, scaling patterns, and cost‑performance trade‑offs.
  • Deep understanding ofSnowflake internals, architecture, and execution model to support query optimization, performance tuning, and cost efficiency.
  • Proven experience implementingInfrastructure as Code (IaC)and automation for platform administration and operational workflows.
  • Strong knowledge ofSnowflake security concepts, including role‑based access control, data sharing, masking policies, and secure data access patterns.
  • Hands‑on experience withSnowflake serverless conceptsand the ability to determine when and where serverless features should be applied.
  • Hands‑on experience monitoring and supportingdata ingestion pipelines, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve ingestion failures across multiple failure scenarios.
  • Experience collaborating withvendors, upstream data providers, and downstream consumersto ensure reliable data ingestion and availability.
  • Solid understanding ofSnowflake storage conceptsand the ability to choose appropriate storage and optimization techniques at the table and schema level.
  • Good working knowledge ofSnowflake AI services and Cortex, with the ability to guide teams on optimal usage patterns.
  • Strong cost‑management mindset, with experience intracking, analyzing, and optimizing cloud data platform spend.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders, translate requirements into platform solutions, and influence best practices.
