Role Summary
We are looking for a dynamic and technically sound Sales Engineer with strong domain experience in process industries. You will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, and closing high-value opportunities for our integrated automation and digital solutions in the assigned territory (North or West India).
This is a hunter + farmer role — you will generate new business while managing and growing key accounts in O&G, Chemicals, Fertilizers, and Metals sectors.
Key Responsibilities
•Solution Selling: Move beyond box-moving to sell high-value technical solutions.
•Identify and develop new business opportunities with end-users and EPCs in Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Fertilizers, Metals, and related process industries.
•Technical Discovery: Lead independent site surveys and discovery sessions with Plant Heads, IT Managers, and C-level executives. Understand customer pain points related to shop-floor data management, production execution, process control, and operational visibility.
•Position SSM Infotech's solutions — Data Historian / Platform, MES, Advanced SCADA, and Unified Operations Centre — and articulate clear value propositions (OEE improvement, downtime reduction, traceability, energy optimization, etc.).
•Prepare and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and proposals (including ROI calculations).
•Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers (Plant Heads, CIOs/CDOs, Heads of Automation/IT, Operations Heads).
•Work closely with pre-sales and technical teams for solution design and demos.
•Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets (order booking and revenue).
•Proactively identify upcoming DCS/PLC migration projects and Digitalization tenders in your assigned territory.
•Track opportunities in CRM, maintain accurate pipeline, and generate regular forecasts.
•Participate in industry events, exhibitions (e.g., Chemtech, Automation Expo), and customer seminars.
•Provide market feedback on competition, trends, and customer requirements to the management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
1.Education: B.E / B.Tech in Instrumentation, Electronics, Electrical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering (MBA preferred but not mandatory).
2.Experience: 7–10 years of relevant experience in Industrial Automation / Digital Transformation sales.
3.Proven track record of selling SCADA, MES, Historian (PI System / Aspen / equivalent), IIoT, or Automation solutions to process industries.
4.Strong domain knowledge of Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Fertilizers, or Metals verticals is mandatory.
5.Experience working with large automation players (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Honeywell, Emerson, Yokogawa, etc.) or reputed system integrators is highly preferred.
6.Hands-on exposure to preparing technical proposals and handling complex sales cycles (6–18 months).
Key Skills & Competencies
•Excellent technical selling and presentation skills.
•Ability to discuss PLC/DCS, SCADA, Historian, MES, and IT-OT convergence at senior levels.
•Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and closing skills.
•Self-motivated with high ownership and target orientation.
•Willingness to travel extensively within the region (–60%).
•Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools (Salesforce / Zoho preferred), and proposal preparation.
