Senior Robotics Engineer Simulation & Autonomous Systems
Bangalore | Full-Time | 58 Years Experience
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Robotics Engineer to architect and build advanced simulation and digital twin systems for large-scale autonomous platforms.
In this role, you will develop high-fidelity virtual environments that accurately replicate real-world marine conditions and vehicle behavior. Your work will enable rapid testing, validation, and iteration of autonomy algorithms in a controlled environmentsignificantly reducing reliance on costly and time-intensive field trials.
You will operate at the intersection of robotics, physics-based modeling, and real-time simulation, contributing to everything from environmental modeling and sensor simulation to full-system digital twins. This role requires strong ownership, as you will help define the simulation strategy, infrastructure, and validation frameworks that underpin the entire autonomy development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-fidelity simulation environments for marine conditions (currents, waves, acoustics, etc.)
- Build and maintain digital twin systems for autonomous underwater vehicles
- Model vehicle physics including hydrodynamics, buoyancy, and 6-DOF motion
- Create realistic sensor simulations (sonar, LiDAR, IMU, cameras, etc.)
- Optimize simulation systems for real-time or faster-than-real-time performance
- Integrate simulation with ROS-based autonomy stacks
- Enable Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing
- Design validation frameworks to correlate simulation vs real-world performance
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in robotics simulation / modeling / digital twin systems
- Strong programming skills in C++
- Experience with simulation engines (Unreal Engine, Unity, NVIDIA Isaac, or similar)
- Solid understanding of physics, linear algebra, and numerical methods
- Experience with ROS / ROS2 integration
- Hands-on experience in physics-based simulation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in marine / underwater simulation or hydrodynamics
- Knowledge of autonomous systems, control systems, or validation frameworks
- Experience with GPU / parallel computing
- Familiarity with sonar / acoustic modeling
- Exposure to NVIDIA Omniverse / Isaac Sim
- Contributions to open-source or research publications in robotics
