Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role located in Gurugram for a Senior Research Analyst – Gas Shipping. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting market research and analysis of the LNG and LPG shipping sector, preparing research reports, and delivering insights to support client decision-making.

Key responsibilities include analysing industry developments, evaluating market trends, compiling data, and presenting findings in both written and visual formats. The role entails maintaining up-to-date knowledge of global gas shipping markets and contributing to the company's broader research initiatives that support clients strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track and analyse global LNG and LPG shipping markets, including freight rates, vessel supply-demand balance, trade flows, and key market drivers such as seasonality, arbitrage opportunities, and geopolitical developments
  • Maintain and update freight market models and internal datasets, supporting regular market outlooks and forward views on spot and term charter rates
  • Work with vessel and AIS data to monitor fleet utilisation, voyage patterns, ton-mile demand, and port congestion, ensuring accuracy and consistency of underlying datasets
  • Prepare regular research outputs, including market reports, weekly notes, and client deliverables, presenting insights in a clear, structured, and commercially relevant manner
  • Translate data analysis into practical market commentary, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities for shipowners, charterers, and investors
  • Monitor fleet developments, including newbuild orders, deliveries, and demolitions, and assess their impact on market balance and earnings
  • Support consulting assignments and bespoke client work by providing data analysis, market inputs, and written contributions to presentations and reports
  • Engage with internal teams and, where required, clients to discuss market views, explain analysis, and respond to queries in a clear and concise manner

Qualifications

  • Strong academic background, preferably with a degree in Economics, Finance, Business, or a quantitative discipline
  • Strong Analytical Skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and extract actionable insights
  • Proficiency in Market Research and Research methodologies, including data collection, analysis, and reporting
  • Knowledge of Statistics, with the ability to apply statistical tools and evaluate datasets effectively
  • Excellent Communication skills, with a focus on creating clear and concise research reports and presentations
  • Familiarity with the maritime and shipping industry or energy markets is a significant advantage
  • Self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in advanced Microsoft Excel and data visualisation tools
  • Experience with AIS or geospatial datasets and exposure to freight markets or shipping economics is preferred
