Position Summary

The Senior Release Manager is responsible for overseeing the release lifecycle and managing both Client internal and external products. This includes planning, scheduling, coordinating, and ensuring the reliable delivery of software updates, new features, and enhancements across all product environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Release Planning & Coordination
  • Own and manage the release calendar, aligning all development streams and product teams across business units.
  • Lead release planning sessions, defining scope, timelines, and resource dependencies.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (Development, QA, Infrastructure, Product, and Support) to ensure timely delivery.
  • Define and manage release readiness, go/no-go, and post-release review checkpoints.
  • Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure all releases comply with Client/s quality, security, and validation standards (GxP, SOX where applicable).
  • Maintain clear release documentation - version notes, deployment logs, and rollback procedures.
  • Chair the Change Advisory Board (CAB) and facilitate approvals for high-impact releases.
  • Track and report release metrics, including deployment success rate, change failure rate, and mean time to restore (MTTR).
  • DevOps & Automation Enablement
  • Partner with DevOps engineers to enhance CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
  • Promote automation of build, test, and deployment processes for Dynamics 365, SAP, and cloud-native applications.
  • Support environment consistency through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automated configuration management.
  • Implement AI-assisted release validation and telemetry dashboards for predictive release insights.
  • Risk & Issue Management
  • Identify and mitigate release-related risks and dependencies early in the lifecycle.
  • Establish rollback and contingency plans for critical systems.
  • Conduct post-release retrospectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Communication
  • Act as the central point of communication between engineering, QA, business, and leadership during releases.
  • Publish release status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries using Power BI or ServiceNow integration.
  • Partner with PMO to align release schedules with project milestones and strategic initiatives (e.g., Copilot, AI Ops, IT Expo).

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5-8+ years of experience in software or infrastructure release management.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployment practices.
  • Familiarity with Dynamics 365, Power Platform, or Salesforce release management.
  • Hands-on experience with version control (Git), branching strategies, and build orchestration.
  • Proven track record in governance, compliance, and change management for enterprise environments.
  • Excellent analytical, coordination, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing software releases in cloud environments such as Azure, including overseeing deployment processes and supporting containerized solutions using Kubernetes or Docker.
  • Proven ability to operate within regulated industries (such as medical device, biotechnology, or life sciences), ensuring compliance with relevant standards and guidelines.
  • Holds professional certifications relevant to release management, such as Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, ITIL v4 Foundation, or PMP/SAFe Agile Certification.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to balance process discipline with agility and innovation.
  • Strategic mindset focus on improving release velocity and reliability.
  • Proactive communicator who can influence across business and technical teams.
