The Senior Public Policy Manager will be an integral part of the India Public Policy Team, and will be based out of Gurgaon, India. You will be responsible for executing government affairs advocacy objectives and political priorities for Amazon at central and state level. In helping to set the public policy and advocacy agenda for Amazon, the Public Policy Manager will work collaboratively with others in public policy, legal, and business units to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. The Senior Public Policy Manager will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with Amazon's objectives. You will work with others on the public policy team to facilitate high-level meetings between executives and key stakeholders, including legislature, regulatory, and industry association, to promote and advocate the company's public policy objectives.

Key job responsibilities
You will use your policy expertise to track policy and legislative developments, identifying and prioritizing the issues relevant to Amazon and developing campaigns to engage in policy related consultations.

You will be required to track political and legislative trends that impact Amazon's customers and will proactively develop solutions to address these.

You will work with cross-functional teams to build Amazon positions on existing and emerging policy issues, including developing possible policy solutions to complex problems.

You will use your campaigning and public affairs expertise to design advocacy campaigns that resonate with external audiences. This will involve engaging directly with senior policymakers, regulators, think tanks, academics and civil society leaders.

You will also build collaborative partnerships and coalitions across industry, trade associations and third-party groups to support your advocacy campaigns.

This position will be based in Gurgaon, with some national and/or international travel required.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
- 12+ years of working directly with government officials and regulatory bodies experience
- Fluency in English and Hindi preferred

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in regulatory frameworks and policy analysis methodologies
- Master's degree or above in a relevant discipline (e.g. Law, Political Science, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Economic Development)
- Demonstrated ability to be both a substantive issue expert on matters related to Amazon's business and a manager of complex political relationships
- Strong written and verbal communications skills and experience creating and effectively delivering factual, relevant, and easily understandable talking points and other messaging
- Strong independent judgment on matters that have multiple perspectives and helps in driving decisions
- Knowledge of and background in advocacy and political landscape in India
- Ability to effectively and comfortably interact at highest corporate and political levels
- Skilled at collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes as well as delivering independently
- Ability to synthesize complex policy issues across multiple domains and translate technical matters into actionable strategies, demonstrating the expertise of a policy generalist
- Capacity to rapidly develop subject matter expertise in emerging policy areas while maintaining strategic oversight across regulatory portfolios
- Ability to maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality and integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry
