The role requires strong hands-on project management in a product-based environment, with the ability to work closely with technical teams while enforcing robust delivery processes.
Experience and background
- Minimum 10+ years of hands-on project management experience, preferably in a product-based software organisation.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end SDLC with the ability to strictly follow and enforce defined delivery processes and quality gates.
- Good to have: Technical awareness (no coding required) to understand architecture, dependencies, risks, and technical discussions with engineering teams.
- Proven experience using project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, MS Project, Confluence or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain detailed project plans, milestones, schedules, and delivery roadmaps across multiple releases and workstreams.
- Track project execution against approved plans, proactively identify variances, and drive corrective actions with accountable owners.
- Own resource planning, allocation, and utilisation tracking for engineering squads, ensuring optimal capacity usage.
- Drive effort estimation, resource budgeting, and cost tracking to keep projects within agreed budgets and financial targets.
- Actively manage and track Change Requests (CRs), assessing impact on scope, timelines, cost, and resources, and ensuring timely decisions and approvals.
- Oversee defect tracking and triage, including impact analysis on existing project plans and release timelines, and coordination with QA and engineering.
- Identify project risks and issues early, maintain RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) or similar logs, define mitigation/contingency plans, and drive closure.
- Ask sharp, relevant questions to technical leads, product owners, QA, and other stakeholders to clarify scope, dependencies, and risks.
- Ensure clear, structured communication and coordination across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
- Maintain up-to-date project documentation, status reports, dashboards, and governance artefacts for internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive ownership and accountability across teams to ensure predictable, on-time, and high-quality delivery of product increments and releases.
- Use data and metrics for decision support, risk visibility, escalations, and executive reporting.
