The team you will be a part of
The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
This Role In Summary
The position is responsible to lead and execute design and development of component/ module /subsystem by preparing innovative concepts in HMI Mechanical Structures and mechatronics. Builds on organizational/process knowledge, understands business needs. Identify opportunities for improvement, and Solves complex problems, trade-off & prioritizes design decisions.Responsible to meet product and sub-system level attribute targets.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Lead & own Subsystem level projects
- Define and Drive engineering calculations as required to support Design integrity.
- Project scoping based on engineering and cross functional requirements and physics of problem
- Evaluate, recommend the developed concepts in terms of engineering, manufacturing and suggest best concept, priority of selection, and other trade-off if necessary.
- Coordinate and effectively communicate the Design Concepts with different stakeholders during Project/ Design Reviews
- Apply DFx( DFA,DFM,DFR,DFS,DFSS) methodologies in Design and resolve design issues.
- Create product/ subsystem specific test plans as per standards to get the designs approved.
- Responsible for converting Consumer Requirements into Technical problems and performing subsystem level designs independently and What if scenario analysis and cost comparison analysis.
- Leads/contributes/accountable towards systematic problem solving to close risk & knowledge gaps as applicable.
- Create Model Shop / Lab requests /SBD requests and support in Virtual/ Physical build as applicable
- Utilize the PLM (Windchill) system for documentation control and workflow.
- Lead, generate & implement cost takeout ideas using various VA/VE tools like teardowns.
- Create/reviews DFMEA, Tolerance stack up analysis and other preventive action steps during product design and development.

Preferred Skills And Experiences
- Find opportunities to improve/redefine existing architectures/designs of HMI assemblies
- Design and develop new concepts forHMI functions of Lighting, Decoration, LCD display, Touch technology, audio, prox, Haptics and Knobs .
- Benchmark / teardown of Mechatronics products to explore other industries technology & execution
- Early learning with simulation, Quick Prototypes & testing to understand the technology / design capability and analysis risk & trade off to make early decisions
- End to End product development of HMI assemblies
- Scalability analysis of an innovation / new concept across product category
- Develop FMEA's, DVP&R, Project plans,cost analysis for a project.
- Effective briefing of concept, test results, etc to the global team.
- Request and analyse the concepts with the help of the SBD team.
- Perform stackup for tolerance analysis of assemblies.
- Lead or participate in Value engineering ideas.
- Work with System integrator for evaluating project scope changes and highlighting risks.
Additional Information
- Proficiency in designing parts in Sheet metal, Plastic and other manufacturing processes.
- Proficient in codes and regulatory requirements.
- Expert in Stackup, GD&T and DFx methodologies.
- Expert in Product Development process
- Expert in project planning ,capital calender & project management.
- Proficient in 6 Sigma (GB - certified or BB - Trained / certified) - is a plus
- Understanding of system engineering
- Experience with Creo 3D Solid/Surface is a plus
- Knowledge & understanding / of HMI functions of Decoration, Lighting, LCD display, Touch technology, audio, prox, Haptics and Knobs is a plus
- Basic knowledge of Electronics (PCBs, connectors, harness, cables/routings, Connectivity, assembly packing) is a plus
