About the Role
We are looking for an experienced, passionate, detail-oriented senior product design specialist who can push the quality of our digital products beyond convenience and make them award-worthy. They are masters of craft and collaboration. They carry strong product and design mindsets that help them create impactful products while collaborating and helping the team learn and grow into ace designers.
Responsibilities
- Product Vision: Shape and drive the overall product design vision for your product category, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs.
- Design Leadership: Provide design leadership and mentorship to the product design team, fostering a collaborative and innovative design culture.
- End-to-End Design: Lead end-to-end design processes, from ideation and concept development to detailed interaction and visual design, ensuring a seamless and delightful user experience.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and stakeholders, to bring design concepts to life and ensure successful product launches.
- User Research and Testing: Conduct user research, usability testing, and gather feedback to iterate and refine designs, ensuring a user-centric approach throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Design Systems: Contribute to the development and maintenance of design systems, ensuring consistency and scalability across products and features.
- Stay Current: Keep abreast of industry trends, design best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously improve and innovate our product design processes.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5-7 years of proven experience as a senior product designer with a strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects and successful product launches depicting growth in the business and improvement in its UX.
Required Skills
- Design Expertise: Proficiency in product metrics, user-centered design principles (especially for native and web apps), information architecture, interaction design, and pixel-perfect UI design.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a design team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. Have the EQ to handle conflicts.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex ideas into intuitive and effective design solutions. Ability to hustle and get fast outcomes while navigating ambiguity.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in Figma and a fair understanding of front-end development technologies.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate design decisions and rationale to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- User Advocacy: A passion for user advocacy and a deep understanding of user research methodologies.
- Portfolio: An online portfolio that documents your best work and thinking process (a PDF would do too). If not, you might be asked to take a design assignment.
Preferred Skills
- Have won awards in design or have a high follower-count on your Behance, Dribbble or professional Instagram account.
- Take interest in areas adjacent to Design: emerging tech, innovation and patenting, culture, psychology, etc.
- Enjoy teaching, mentoring, reading, researching, writing articles, evangelizing design, and working with the broader community of Design.
- Believe Design is more than just work, but a way of life. You love to doodle, sketch, illustrate, arrange, showcase, and have a keen eye for aesthetics.
