Role Overview
The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for process design and engineering activities for pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, including Drug Substance and Drug Product projects. This is a design-office–focused role, emphasizing engineering, documentation, and coordination, with no site execution responsibility.
The role suits candidates with pharma company or design consultancy experience who are comfortable working in a fast-growing Indian pharma consultancy environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Process Design & Engineering
- Perform process design activities across:
- Concept Design
- Basic Design (FEED)
- Detailed Design
- Prepare and review:
- Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Mass balance and process calculations
- Equipment sizing and datasheets
- Develop process design philosophies aligned with product, capacity, and GMP requirements.
2. Pharma Manufacturing & GMP Compliance
- Apply hands-on understanding of pharma manufacturing operations to design development.
- Ensure process designs comply with:
- USFDA
- EU GMP
- WHO GMP guidelines
- Incorporate concepts related to:
- Cleanability and drainability
- Cross-contamination control
- Batch manufacturing requirements
- Support design documentation from a GMP compliance perspective.
3. Inter-Discipline Coordination
- Provide process inputs to:
- Mechanical
- Piping
- HVAC / Cleanroom
- Electrical
- Instrumentation & Automation teams
- Review inter-discipline drawings and documents for process compliance.
- Respond to process-related design queries during engineering stages.
4. Client & Vendor Interaction
- Participate in client meetings for:
- Process discussions
- Design review clarifications
- Comment resolution
- Review vendor documents for process equipment and skids.
- Support technical evaluations and alignment with design intent.
5. Design Support (Non-Execution)
- Provide design-stage support only during construction or commissioning, if required.
- Occasional site visits may be needed only for design understanding or clarification, not execution management.
Technical Skill Requirements
Process Engineering
- Strong experience in pharma process design
- Understanding of:
- Batch processes
- Equipment selection and sizing
- CIP / SIP concepts
- Material and personnel flow
Pharma Facility Exposure
- Experience in:
- Drug Product (OSD / Sterile preferred) and/or
- Drug Substance facilities
Software & Tools
- AutoCAD – working knowledge (Mandatory)
- MS Excel – process calculations
- Process simulation tools (Aspen / SuperPro – added advantage)
Soft Skills & Behavioural Traits
