About the Role
We are seeking a Strategic BI Architect & Lead to own the vision and technical roadmap for our enterprise analytics ecosystem. This isn't just a report-building role; you will be the primary architect bridging the gap between Google BigQuery and Power BI Premium, ensuring our data remains performant, governed, and scalable for a global software leader.
This is a contract role and will be dedicated exclusively to our client, A premier American multinational software company.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Define the end-to-end architecture for enterprise semantic models, deciding between Import, DirectQuery, and Composite models based on performance and cost-benefit analysis in BigQuery.
- Tenant & Workspace Governance: Establish and enforce Power BI tenant-level settings, deployment pipelines (ALM), and capacity management strategies.
- BigQuery Optimization: Lead the design of BigQuery views and materialization strategies specifically tuned for BI consumption (e.g., partitioning, clustering, and BI Engine integration).
- Center of Excellence (CoE): Establish a BI Center of Excellence, creating the Gold Standard for visualization, DAX patterns, and documentation that other teams will follow.
- Security & Compliance: Architect complex Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) frameworks that persist from the data warehouse to the end-user.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with senior leadership to translate business needs into scalable BI solutions. Communicate insights and technical concepts effectively to non‑technical audiences. Manage expectations, prioritize initiatives, and deliver high‑impact analytic solutions.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in Business Intelligence with at least 3 years in a dedicated Architect or Lead capacity.
- Expert-level BigQuery + Power BI integration: Deep knowledge of BigQuery's storage billing vs. compute billing and how BI architecture impacts cloud costs.
- Hands‑on experience integrating Google BigQuery with Power BI.
- Strong SQL expertise and experience optimizing queries for cloud data warehouses.
- Proven experience building and leading enterprise reporting environments.
- Tooling: Mastery of Tabular Editor 3, DAX Studio, and Power BI Helper for model optimization.
- Deep understanding of data governance, security, and analytics CoE models.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Data Analyst Associate or Google Professional Data Engineer.
