Job Responsibilities

Role Summary:

The Senior Platform Engineer is a hands-on engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and operating core platform services that support application development and deployment. This role focuses on building reliable CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and shared tooling that enables teams to deploy and operate services consistently and securely.
As a senior member of the platform team, you will lead the design and delivery of platform components, make architectural decisions, and review technical designs. You will mentor junior engineers, help troubleshoot complex system issues, and ensure the platform scales with growing workloads while meeting reliability and security requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

. Design, build, and maintain core platform services such as CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, observability platforms, and secrets management.
. Drive platform standardization through golden paths, reusable tooling, and reference architectures.
. Own platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence, including automation and incident response.
. Embed security and compliance best practices into pipelines using policy-as-code.
. Partner with application teams to enable self-service infrastructure and smooth onboarding to the platform.
. Lead technical initiatives across squads and mentor junior engineers.

Key Relationships:

. Reports to a Platform Engineering Manager or Director.
. Works closely with Platform, Software & Test Engineers, and Security & Compliance teams.
. Acts as a technical lead and advisor for platform-related initiatives across teams.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

. Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Bicep or equivalent.
. Hands-on expertise with CI/CD systems including GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Gitlab.
. Build, manage, and support containerized platforms using Docker and Kubernetes.
. Solid experience with cloud platforms, with Azure preferred and AWS/GCP as a plus.
. Strong system design, debugging, and automation skills
. Hands-on experience developing and maintaining platform automations using Python and Bash.

Education & Experience:

. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
. 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles.
. Proven experience building and operating large-scale internal platforms or developer tooling.
. Certifications in Azure Solutions Architect, DevOps or Cloud Security are a plus.
