For our clients we're hiring a Senior PHP Developer who can own architecture, lead delivery, and guide a small team on a large-scale web application.
This is a long-term, 100% remote role for someone who's hands-on in code, strong in systems thinking, and comfortable driving projects end-to-end while working in the European time zone.
Salary: $2200 USD to $3000 USD
Key responsibilities
- Lead development of a large PHP application (design, implementation, refactoring, performance).
- Act as project architect: define system architecture, coding standards, and technical roadmap.
- Build and maintain backend services using Laminas or Laravel.
- Own production readiness: reliability, monitoring, incident response improvements, and secure practices.
- Design and scale systems using AWS, with solid operational awareness (deployments, logs, cost/perf tradeoffs).
- Implement and optimize Redis caching strategies and Elasticsearch indexing/search.
- Manage delivery: scope breakdown, estimation, prioritization, and stakeholder communication.
- Lead code reviews, mentor developers, and maintain high engineering quality.
Required qualifications
- 5+ years of professional PHP experience, including large application development.
- Production experience with Laminas or Laravel (deep framework understanding).
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with:
- AWS
- Redis
- Elasticsearch
- Proven ability to lead and manage a project (ownership, planning, delivery discipline).
- Experience as a project architect (system design, scalability, maintainability).
- Ability to work during European time zone hours with reliable overlap.
- Strong English communication (written and spoken) and ability to work independently in a remote setup.

- CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, etc.)
- Docker and container platforms (ECS/EKS)
- Queues and async processing (SQS, RabbitMQ, etc.)
- Testing discipline (PHPUnit, integration tests)
- Legacy modernization experience
