Description
We are seeking a Senior Overhead Line Designer with strong proficiency in PLS-CADD and related tools for the design of overhead transmission lines up to 400kv. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing optimized line designs, ensuring compliance with client and International standards, and supporting project execution from concept through construction.
Responsibilities
- Design overhead transmission lines including conductors, insulators, and supporting structures.
- Perform overhead transmission line design using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER.
- Develop line route selection, structure spotting, and conductor sag/tension calculations.
- prepare plan and profile drawings, stringing charts, and clearance checks.
- Integrate survey data from various sources/methods such as LiDAR and GIS data for accurate modeling and terrain analysis.
- Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for proposed transmission projects.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications for transmission line projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
- Perform load calculations and electrical system studies as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations during design and implementation phases.
- Participate in site inspections and assist in the resolution of technical issues during construction.
Skills and Qualifications
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering / Civil Engineering, or related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in overhead line design or transmission line engineering.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER software.
- Gulf experience is must.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, transmission line design principles, and industry standards.
- Experience with structural analysis and load calculations for overhead lines.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Project Support
- Provide technical support during procurement and construction phases.
- Assist in resolving design-related queries from site teams.
- Ensure timely delivery of design packages and maintain quality standards.
