Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior OpenShift Engineer (Migration Specialist) to join the contractor program in supporting critical customer engagement. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive experience working on technical execution of large-scale infrastructure transformations, specifically migrating complex virtualized workloads from legacy platforms to Red Hat OpenShift and ProxMox. The successful candidate will work closely with Paul Fenech and customer stakeholders to ensure project success from initial definition through final delivery.
Required Credentials
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration or Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA) is highly preferred.
- 7+ years in Systems Engineering.
- 3+ years of dedicated experience managing and scaling Red Hat OpenShift (OCP)
Required Qualifications
- Migration Expertise: Proven track record of migrating enterprise-scale workloads.
- Core Networking & Storage: Strong understanding of SDN, load balancers, persistent storage (CSI), and complex network topology mapping.
- Security: Solid grasp of Kubernetes security primitives, including Network Policies, SCCs, and Secrets management.
- Platform Knowledge: Experience with Red Hat OpenShift (BareMetal/Virtual) and VMware vSphere.
Useful Qualifications
- Experience with ProxMox
- Experience with Terraform.
- Experience with Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV).
- Experience with Ansible Automation Platform (AAP).
Scope And Solution Expectations
- Platform Engineering: Lead the deployment and configuration of high-availability OpenShift clusters on BareMetal and hybrid-cloud environments.
- Migration Execution: Architect and execute the end-to-end migration of VM-based workloads into OpenShift Virtualization, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain automation playbooks using Ansible Automation Platform (AAP) to standardize cluster builds and application migrations.
- Discovery & Mapping: Perform deep-dive technical discovery of legacy environments to map dependencies, networking requirements (VLANs, Firewalls), and storage integrations.
- Operational Readiness: Configure Day 2 operations, including monitoring, logging, RBAC, and security hardening according to industry best practices.
