Overview
We are seeking a Senior News Editor to lead editorial strategy, daily news coverage, and content standards across high-impact business and workplace journalism products. This role is ideal for an experienced editor with a strong background in international news and business journalism who can oversee coverage, guide contributors, and ensure timely, accurate, and authoritative reporting for a global professional audience.
The Senior News Editor will play a central role in shaping news agendas, translating complex global developments into accessible insights, and maintaining editorial excellence across platforms, including newsletters, digital articles, and special reports.
Key ResponsibilitiesEditorial Leadership & Strategy
- Own and uphold editorial standards, voice, and integrity across news coverage
- Set daily and long-term news priorities aligned with global business, labor, and workplace trends
- Guide coverage planning, story selection, and framing with strong news judgment
- Ensure accuracy, fairness, and consistency across all published content
Global News Coverage
- Oversee and edit international business and HR-related news, including labor markets, employment policy, workforce trends, DEI, talent mobility, and workplace culture
- Identify emerging global stories and assess their relevance for senior business and HR leaders
- Work confidently across international time zones, regulatory environments, and cultural contexts
Editing, Writing & Production
- Edit breaking news and analysis to a high journalistic standard
- Write and commission original news stories, headlines, summaries, and explainers as needed
- Manage production workflows to ensure timely publication across platforms, including newsletters
- Collaborate closely with reporters, contributors, and external experts
Audience & Performance Focus
- Shape content to serve a senior, professional, and international readership
- Use audience data, analytics, and feedback to refine coverage and improve engagement
- Partner with product, analytics, and marketing teams to support audience growth and retention
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Mentor junior editors and writers, providing editorial guidance and feedback
- Work cross-functionally with design, product, and commercial teams
- Support special editorial projects, rankings, and media partnerships
Required Experience & Skills
- 7+ years of editorial experience in news, business, or professional publishing
- Proven experience editing international or global news coverage
- Strong background in business journalism, workplace, labor, or employment-related topics
- Exceptional editing, writing, and headline-writing skills
- Ability to synthesize complex global developments into clear, authoritative reporting
- Experience producing newsletters and/or fast-paced digital news products
- Strong news judgment and comfort working under tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading or managing editors and reporters
- Familiarity with labor law, employment policy, and workforce trends across multiple regions
- Experience using audience analytics to guide editorial decisions
- Background working with tier-one media brands or large professional audiences
