About The Opportunity
A well-established private healthcare provider in the tertiary-care hospital sector operating a 200bed facility in Assam is looking to strengthen its clinical neurology services. The centre delivers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care across acute neurology, stroke, and neurorehabilitation pathways, supported by a cooperative management team and timely remuneration practices.
Role & Responsibilities
- Provide full-time, on-site consultant neurology services: diagnose, manage and follow-up inpatient and outpatient cases across the full spectrum of neurological disorders.
- Lead acute stroke care including rapid assessment, decision-making for thrombolysis, coordination with radiology and neurosurgery, and participation in stroke protocols and audits.
- Perform neurodiagnostic and bedside procedures such as lumbar puncture, and supervise/interpret EEG, EMG and nerve conduction studies in collaboration with technical staff.
- Manage neurocritical care patients in coordination with the ICU team and participate in on-call rotas for emergency neurology consultations.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (neurosurgery, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, radiology) to plan patient care and discharge pathways; ensure accurate clinical documentation and coding.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement, clinical governance, teaching of junior doctors/residents and periodic clinical audits.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- MBBS with MD/DNB/DM in Neurology (or equivalent) and active medical registration in India (NMC/state council).
- Proven clinical competence in acute stroke management and emergency neurology.
- Hands-on experience with EEG, EMG and nerve conduction studies and performing lumbar punctures.
- Experience managing neurocritical care patients and working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Comfortable with on-site full-time clinical commitments and rotational on-call duties.
- Strong clinical documentation standards and adherence to hospital protocols and quality metrics.
Preferred
- Fellowship or additional training in clinical neurophysiology or stroke care.
- Prior experience in a multi-specialty hospital (200+ bed) or tertiary centre.
- Involvement in teaching, research or publications in neurology.
