Position Summary

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for providing advanced support, design input, and ensuring operational excellence across a large-scale enterprise network comprising over 300 sites and hybrid cloud environments. This role serves as a Tier 3 escalation point within the India-based NOC, ensuring high availability, secure connectivity, and optimal network performance across on-premise and cloud infrastructure.

This individual will play a critical role in supporting technologies such as Cisco switching, Meraki, ASA, Palo Alto firewalls, Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA), and SD-WANwhile also maintaining cloud networking capabilities in AWS and Azure.

Engineering & Support

  • Serve as Tier 3 escalation for complex incidents involving routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, SD-WAN, and cloud interconnectivity
  • Perform root cause analysis and develop resolution plans for recurring or high-impact network issues
  • Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise-grade Cisco switching infrastructure (Catalyst, Meraki), ASA firewalls, and Palo Alto Networks firewalls
  • Support site-to-site and remote access VPN configurations and secure cloud access policies

Monitoring & Optimization

  • Analyze alerts, network KPIs, and traffic flows to improve performance and reduce event noise
  • Tune SNMP, syslog, and NetFlow configurations for actionable network visibility
  • Review and refine monitoring setups in tools like LogicMonitor, PRTG, and SolarWinds

Cloud & Zero Trust Integration

  • Maintain secure, scalable cloud networking configurations across AWS and Azure environments, including routing, security groups, ExpressRoute, and VNet/VPC peering
  • Support and optimize zero-trust implementations using Zscaler ZIA/ZPA or equivalent
  • Collaborate with Security Engineering on segmentation and policy enforcement across all network layers

Automation & Change Management

  • Use scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) to automate routine tasks, compliance checks, and configurations
  • Review, approve, and lead change implementation during maintenance windows
  • Ensure rollback procedures and documentation are in place for all planned changes

Documentation & Team Enablement

  • Maintain network diagrams, topology documentation, and configuration baselines
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training material for NOC teams
  • Mentor junior NOC staff and guide incident handling and escalation strategies

Required Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related discipline
  • 6+ years of experience in network operations, engineering, or support in enterprise environments
  • Proficiency in enterprise routing and switching (OSPF, BGP, VLAN, STP)
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst and Meraki switches, ASA firewalls, and Palo Alto Networks
  • Strong understanding of SD-WAN technologies and dynamic routing integrations
  • Experience supporting Zscaler ZIA/ZPA and associated policy configuration
  • Working knowledge of cloud networking in AWS (VPC, TGW, Route 53, etc.) and Azure (VNet, NSG, ExpressRoute)
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and log analysis platforms such as LogicMonitor, SolarWinds, and Splunk
  • Participation in incident response and change control processes following ITIL or similar frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

  • CCNP, PCNSE, or Zscaler certifications (ZCCA, ZCNA)
  • Experience with network segmentation and zero-trust architecture
  • Strong scripting ability (Python, PowerShell) for automation and diagnostics
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or API-driven network management
  • Experience working in or supporting a 24/7 global NOC
