The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.

  • Provide specialist consulting mechanical engineering expertise on projects related to both smelting and pyro-refining of a variety of base metals in particular copper, nickel, zinc, and lead, that delivers front-end studies, due diligence and asset optimization programs and troubleshooting client operational problems.
  • Lead and work collaboratively with a team in the development of Concept, PFS and FS Reports and sign off as a Qualified Person (QP).
  • Lead and perform plant audits and due diligence assessments.
  • Provide solutions to equipment optimization and debottlenecking analysis.
  • Provide resolution to operational issues based on the vast Operations experience in Indian plants.
  • Lead the development of mechanical deliverables, viz. design basis, design criteria, technical datasheets, equipment specifications, material requisitions, material handling system and equipment design / calculations, equipment layouts.
  • Provide Option studies, input to process for flowsheet finalization, material handling scheme development.
  • Provide project innovation to our clients to improve asset value.
  • Assist with project cost estimation including OPEX and Cash Flow modelling.

About You

To be considered for this role it is envisaged you will possess the following attributes:

  • A Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
  • 15+ years of experience in the engineering of smelting and refining projects with an emphasis on base metals.
  • Ideally will have plant operating or plant support experience.
  • Outstanding ability to understand clients needs, identify opportunities and convert them into successful projects.
  • Proven ability to perform due diligence, peer review and trade-off studies.
  • Strong knowledge in smelting and refining for base metals including copper, nickel, zinc and lead (both Hydrometallurgical and Pyrometallurgical path).
  • Proven ability to lead teams.
  • Experience in softwares like sidewinder , Belt Staat, PV elite, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Extensive experience in Pyrometallurgical / Hydrometallurgical Operations in Indian plants is preferred which will enable to resolve operational issues.
