Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with 68 years of experience in electro-mechanical product development. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in designing and packaging electronic systems including cameras, PCB assemblies, and industrial enclosures, with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Electro-Mechanical Packaging
- Design and develop electro-mechanical assemblies including:
> Camera modules and vision systems
> Powder/liquid distribution units
> PCB mounting structures and brackets
> Wiring harness routing and connector integration
- Develop robust enclosure designs meeting IP69K standards for harsh environments
- Ensure proper sealing strategies (gaskets, O-rings, adhesives, venting solutions)
Thermal Management & Simulation
- Design and validate thermal solutions for electronic systems including PCBs and GPUs
- Perform CFD and thermal simulations using:
> SolidWorks Simulation / Flow Simulation
> ANSYS Workbench
- Analyze heat dissipation, airflow, and temperature distribution
- Correlate simulation results with physical testing and improve designs
- Work closely with electronics teams to ensure thermal reliability
Mechanical Design & Manufacturing
- Design parts and assemblies using:
> Sheet metal (bending, welding, tolerance stack-up)
> Machined components (CNC, precision fits)
> Plastics (injection molding, DFMA considerations)
- Apply DFM/DFA principles for cost-effective and manufacturable designs
- Select materials, finishes, and treatments based on environmental and functional requirements
PCB Integration & Assembly
- Define mechanical interfaces for PCB mounting and integration
- Ensure proper stack-up, grounding, shielding, and accessibility
- Collaborate with PCB design teams for layout constraints and enclosure fitment
Drawings & Documentation
- Create detailed 2D drawings with GD&T in accordance with standards
- Develop complete assembly instructions and work instructions
- Maintain BOMs, design documentation, and revision control
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Lead and participate in design discussions with:
- Electronics (PCB, firmware teams)
- Manufacturing and suppliers
- Quality and testing teams
- Drive design reviews and ensure closure of action items
- Communicate design intent clearly across teams
Validation & Testing
- Support prototype builds and validation testing
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement design improvements
- Ensure designs meet reliability, environmental, and regulatory requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 68 years of experience in electro-mechanical product design
- Strong experience in:
- Enclosure design (preferably IP-rated systems)
- PCB packaging and integration
- Harness and connector design
- Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks / Creo / NX or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of:
> GD&T and tolerance stack-up
> Manufacturing processes (sheet metal, machining, plastics)
> Thermal management of electronics
Preferred Skills
- Experience with IP69K or similar high-ingress protection designs
- Exposure to simulation tools (thermal/structural)
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC considerations in enclosure design
- Experience in industries such as AgTech, Automotive, Robotics, or Industrial Equipment
