Reporting to the Director of Marine Operations, the incumbent will be responsible for the leadership, hands-on guidance and optimization of the Terminal Performance, Scheduling and Regional Coordination Committee teams.
- Accountable for problem resolution with the Terminals and other counterparties within and outside the company.
- Maintains regular contacts with Network Execution, Stowage Planning, and Terminal Operators ensuring the most cost-effective and timely management of vessel operations.
- Monitors terminal operations to ensure work is flowing in accordance with defined processes.
- Focal point for emergency response and security issues at the port.
- Represents Hapag-Lloyd interests at various committee meetings, where required.
- Identifies opportunities for cost reduction and cost control.
- Supports and promotes new business processes for smoother workflows, driving continuous improvement, and optimization of Terminal operations.
- Responsible for driving the implementation and usage of Portchain Connect across all relevant departments.
- Coaches and develops staff to execute all the required procedures and functions.
- Provides training for staff on new systems, regulations, and requirements.
- Make certain that all departmental and functional training requirements are fulfilled.
- Responsible for terminal cost analysis and development in coordination with OPSS department, and measures and monitors vendors performances in close cooperation with the Director of Marine Operations.
- Responsible for timely Terminal Performance Reports (TPFREP) as well as quality and accuracy checks. Use QlikView / Qlicksense to analyze performance deviations.
- Ensure consistent application of Hapag-Lloyd policies to all personnel actions.
- Responsible for timely maintenance of Ankeri related to Terminal specs/information.
- Responsible for Berth planning activities within the regional scope assigned.
- Responsible for overall coordination of Berth Planning, Terminal, and Hub Performance toward Network Execution and Stowage Planning.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Marine Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or experience as a Nautical Officer.
- Proven experience in port and terminal management, with a focus on berth planning, port operations and hub management.
- Strong knowledge of port operations, vessel scheduling, and terminal activities.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Strategic mindset and the ability to develop and implement effective plans and initiatives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to drive operational improvements.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry standards in port and terminal operations.
- Familiarity with port and terminal management software tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Fluency in Mandarin is required for this role to support business communication with clients and stakeholders.
