  • SLA / Turnaround Time (TAT): % on-time closures by priority tier.
  • First-Time-Right (FTR): % of units passing all tests after first repair.
  • Repeat Failure Rate: % returns within 90/180 days post-repair.
  • Repair Yield & Recovery Rate: % units successfully repaired vs. scrapped.
  • Cost per Repair / Cost Avoidance: Trend vs. target; mix-adjusted.
  • WIP & Cycle Time: Average days in each stage; bottleneck reduction.
  • Parts Consumption & Scrap: Cost, accuracy, and trends.
  • RCA Closure Effectiveness: % 8D/CAPA closed on time; recurrence index.
  • Audit Scores & Compliance: ESD, IPC, calibration, QMS adherence.

Responsibilities

  • Repair Operations Leadership
  • Set up and run the repair centre (people, process, tools, spares, test benches, ESD control, safety).
  • Manage intake-to-dispatch lifecycle for RMAs/FRUs: receiving, triage, diagnosis, repair, functional test, soak/stress test, quality sign-off, packaging, dispatch.
  • Ensure adherence to test procedures, repair SOPs, and version control for firmware/configurations.
  • Plan and optimize shift capacity, takt time, and WIP to meet SLA/TAT commitments.
  • Technical Ownership
  • Lead fault isolation and component-level repair of complex digital, analog, RF, and optical assemblies (e.g., high-speed SerDes, clocking, power, thermal, optics).
  • Establish and maintain golden-unit baselines, automated test scripts, and boundary-scan/JTAG coverage as applicable.
  • Approve repair dispositions: component-level fix, module swap, refurbish, scrap, or vendor return.
  • Drive obsolescence management and alternate-part qualifications in collaboration with Engineering/Sourcing.
  • Quality, RCA & Continuous Improvement
  • Implement structured problem-solving (5-Why, Ishikawa, 8D) and feed systemic issues to Design, NPI, and Supplier Quality.
  • Maintain robust traceability (serial/lot, BOM revisions, repair history, failure codes) in ERP/PLM/MES.
  • Own repair yield, repeat-failure rate, and DPPM targets; drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Champion calibration, MSA, and measurement integrity of all test and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with ESD (ANSI/ESD S20.20), IPC standards (IPC-A-610/7711/7721), and internal QMS (ISO 9001/ISO 27001).
  • Customer & Field Interfaces
  • Partner with Customer Support to prioritize critical returns and communicate status/ETAs.
  • Provide actionable failure analytics to key customers; support audits and technical deep-dives when required.
  • Define and own repair SLAs by customer/product; negotiate realistic, tiered SLAs based on complexity and spares availability.
  • Supply Chain & Vendor Management
  • Forecast and manage spare components, repair kits, and critical parts (lead times, MOQ, NRND/EOL).
  • Govern 3rd-party repair partners: capability audits, contractual SLAs, quality gates, cost controls.
  • Collaborate with Sourcing for cost-effective repair ecosystems and alternate sourcing.
  • People & Capability Building
  • Build, mentor, and certify a high-performing team of repair technicians, test engineers, and FA specialists.
  • Drive skill-matrix planning (BGA rework, micro-soldering, conformal coating, thermal management, optical alignment).
  • Instill a culture of safety, discipline, continuous improvement, and customer-first mindset.
  • Systems & Compliance
  • Ensure accurate, timely data capture in ERP/MES/PLM (RMA IDs, failure codes, repair actions, parts consumed, costs).
  • Enforce documentation discipline: SOPs, WI, control plans, ECN/ECO adherence, version control.
  • Comply with EHS, e-waste (EPR), WEEE/RoHS/REACH, and secure data-handling for returned assets.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech in Electronics/Electrical/Telecom.
