PORTER is seeking an experienced Chartered Accountant with expertise in Indirect Tax matters. As part of the Group's Finance and Tax Team, this individual will play a key role in ensuring highest standards of tax compliance, representation, assessments, litigations, policy advocacy, regulatory matters, tax optimization opportunities and group cross-charges across the India and overseas entities.
Role and Responsibilities
Oversee and manage day-to-day GST compliance, including timely filing of GST returns, reconciliations, GST payments, and input tax credit (ITC) reconciliations.
Ensure accurate and timely compliance with GST laws, including handling GST audits, assessments, notices, and litigation.
Stay updated with changes in GST laws and ensure timely implementation of relevant regulatory updates.
Support the finance and operations teams with GST-related matters, including structuring transactions and optimizing tax positions
Assists in day-to-day functioning of the tax and regulatory function within the finance team and work closely with the accounting team.
Support on review and negotiation of contracts from an overall tax, commercial, finance and regulatory perspective
Support requirements of business and operations team in day-to-day functioning and new business initiatives
Manage discussions and coordination with the external consultants, lawyers and tax & regulatory authorities including meetings/representations on behalf of the company
Assisting in financial /tax/regulatory diligence/ audit by third parties
Identify and drive automation and process improvements, including the creation of SOP's standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and quick reference summary dashboards etc.
Design and administer internal controls over tax including process controls.
Qualifications / Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should have completed CA articleship training along with 7-10 years of post qualification working experience in tax (preferably having managed indirect taxes in new age companies having India and overseas subsidiaries).
Should have in-depth knowledge of Indirect taxes. Knowledge of corporate tax, accounting standards and IFRS would be added advantage.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent skills of MS-Office suite
Should be a problem solver and take initiatives, should proactively reach out to stakeholders to solve deadlock/issues
Integrity, with an ability to handle confidential information
Ability to multitask and manage expectations of relevant stakeholders from time to time
Should have a positive attitude, be a good team player, be willing to learn and be flexible to adapt into varied roles within the finance function
The person is expected to take hands on initiatives, lead and execute activities in his/her areas with minimum supervision / monitoring or assistance.
