AWS Cloud Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a
Senior AWS Cloud Infrastructure Specialist to architect and govern our global cloud deployment. This role is critical for evolution of our platform to a
resilient, multi-region architecture. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in
AWS networking,
infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and
advanced CI/CD orchestration using GitHub Actions.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will drive operational excellence by integrating release planning with strict service governance protocols. Responsibilities are segmented into three critical verticals:
- Multi-Region Architecture & Reliability
- Design and implement active-active or active-passive disaster recovery strategies across multiple AWS regions
- Configure advanced AWS networking services, specifically AWS Transit Gateway, Global Accelerator, and Route 53 latency-based routing to optimize global traffic flow.
- Manage cross-region data replication strategies for different data objects and databases.
- Advanced Automation & IaC
- Define the entire infrastructure using Terraform or AWS CDK, strictly adhering to DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) principles.
- Develop immutable infrastructure patterns where server updates are handled via replacement rather than in-place patching.
- Automate compliance checks (e.g., AWS Config, GuardDuty) to ensure new resources meet security standards before provisioning.
- GitHub Actions & CI/CD Orchestration
- Architect sophisticated CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, moving beyond basic workflows to leverage composite actions, reusable workflows, and custom runners.
- Implement secure OIDC authentication between GitHub and AWS to eliminate long-lived access keys.
- Optimize pipeline performance by implementing caching strategies and parallel execution to reduce build times.
Required Skills
- Experience: 8+ years in Cloud Engineering/DevOps, with 3+ years focused on multiregion AWS production environments.
- AWS (Mastery): VPC, peering, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect/VPN, IAM (RBAC/ABAC), KMS, AWS Organizations/Control Tower concepts.
- Compute/Platform: Strong EKS (multicluster patterns), ECS/Lambda architectural patterns, container lifecycle and release practices
- IaC: Expert Terraform (state, modules, workspaces) or CDK (TypeScript/Python), with GitOps operating model.
- GitHub Actions: Enterprise-grade workflows; ability to author custom actions (JS/Docker) and manage runners.
- Observability: CloudWatch + (Prometheus/DataDog or equivalent) for crossregion monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
- Scripting: Python, Teraform
- Education: B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional
- AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
Good To Have
- Understanding of Front, Middle, and Back office systems
- ITIL is a plus.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC2 / ISO27001 / HIPAA) in cloud context.
