Role purpose
We are looking for a senior professional to lead the commercial, regulatory, and transaction structuring side of renewable power procurement deals for C&I consumers. The role will support origination opportunities by evaluating the right supply model—open access, third-party PPA, captive, group captive, exchange-based procurement, or hybrid structures—and guiding the deal from opportunity assessment to commercial closure.
Key responsibilities
- Advise on the right procurement structure for C&I consumers, including third-party open access, captive, group captive, exchange procurement, and hybrid/RTC models.
- Evaluate state-wise open access feasibility, including practical implications of charges, banking, approvals, losses, and curtailment risks.
- Lead commercial structuring of renewable PPAs and related supply arrangements, including tenure, tariff logic, risk allocation, and flexibility clauses.
- Support pricing strategy, landed cost comparison, savings analysis, and portfolio optimization for offtakers and developers.
- Review and guide contract terms with internal/external legal teams on PPA, term sheet, MoU, and advisory transaction documents.
- Assess when short-term market products such as exchange procurement or balancing purchases should complement long-term contracted power.
- Engage with developers, offtakers, traders, DISCOMs, SLDC/STU stakeholders, consultants, and legal advisors to move deals forward.
- Participate in customer meetings and act as the in-house subject matter expert on open access and power market strategy.
- Build internal frameworks for opportunity screening, regulatory risk assessment, and project qualification.
- Mentor junior analysts and help build the company's capability in open access and corporate renewable procurement.
Required experience
- 8–15+ years in Indian power markets, renewable energy, open access, corporate PPAs, power trading, or energy advisory.
- Hands-on experience in at least some of the following: open access power procurement, captive/group captive structuring, bilateral power transactions, renewable asset commercialization, energy management, or corporate PPA advisory.
- Strong knowledge of Indian power market mechanisms, regulatory developments, and commercial risk allocation.
- Experience working with large C&I consumers, IPPs, developers, utilities, or power market participants.
- Proven ability to influence deal outcomes, negotiate commercial terms, and manage senior external stakeholders.
