Senior Manager
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead processes across management reporting, financial reporting, close, consolidation, and finance operations.
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal review, account reconciliations, intercompany matters, consolidation, and reporting schedules.
- Ensure accurate and timely preparation and review of management reports, financial statements, supporting schedules, variance commentary, and key performance metrics.
- Lead the implementation and adoption of AI-enabled tools and automation solutions to streamline reporting processes, enhance data quality, reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Maintain compliance with US GAAP, SOX requirements, MetLife Financial Policies, accounting standards, and internal control frameworks.
- Review complex accounting and reporting matters, coordinate issue resolution, and ensure appropriate documentation and governance.
- Partner with Finance Leadership, Controllers, business units, and local finance teams to explain reported performance, key movements, risks, and emerging issues.
- Coordinate internal and external audit requirements, including timely submission of supporting documentation and closure of audit observations.
- Monitor service-level metrics, reporting calendars, quality indicators, and control performance; implement corrective actions where required.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to team members while ensuring capacity, succession, and business continuity.
- Collaborate with other process teams to resolve cross-functional issues and deliver consistent, high-quality reporting outcomes.
Education, Technical Skills & Other Critical Requirements
Education
- CA / CPA / MBA with an accounting background and specialization in finance is required.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capability to review financial results, investigate variances, and prepare clear management commentary are essential.
Experience (In Years)
- 8–10 years of experience, including significant experience in management reporting, financial reporting, accounting close, consolidation, controls, and audit support.
Technical Skills
- Relevant systems knowledge, including advanced MS Excel and enterprise financial reporting, consolidation, and general ledger tools such as EPBCS Smartview, PeopleSoft, Oracle, or Hyperion.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience using AI and analytics tools—such as Power Apps, Power BI, Microsoft Copilot agents, Alteryx, and Claude—to drive process automation and efficiency improvements.
- Workday GL knowledge is a plus
