B. About the Role:
The Senior Manager/ Manager Management Consulting will be responsible for leading and overseeing consulting assignments across Regulatory, Policy, Tariff (ARR/MYT filings), PPA approvals, fuel cost optimization, and commercial matters related to Generation and Distribution Utilities. The role involves strategic advisory, client leadership, and quality assurance across projects, including bid process management for power procurement, evaluation of new initiatives, internal feasibility assessments, and preparation of concept notes and thought leadership papers. Will also advise clients on amendments to Regulations, Acts, Policies, and Plans, maintain continuous oversight of regulatory developments across SERCs, CERC, CEA, and MoP, and lead the development of high-quality presentations for senior client leadership, conferences, webinars, and seminars.
C. Detailed expectations from the role:
- The Senior Manager/ Manager will report to senior leadership and will have end-to-end responsibility for project delivery. Key expectations include:
- Lead and manage multiple consulting assignments in the power and renewable energy sector, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs.
- Provide strategic advisory on energy policies, regulations, incentives, and reforms related to power generation, power procurement, and renewable energy.
- Review, guide, and finalize filings such as ARR, MYT, tariff petitions, true-ups, and regulatory submissions.
- Lead analysis of policy and regulatory developments, assess their implications on client businesses, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Oversee bid process management assignments for procurement of power by distribution licensees.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, leading discussions, meetings, and stakeholder engagements.
- Mentor and guide team members, review their work, and ensure consistency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance in deliverables.
- Coordinate closely with internal teams to manage project execution, resolve issues, and maintain delivery schedules.
- Lead preparation and presentation of reports, concept notes, and client presentations for senior management forums.
- Represent the organization in client meetings, regulatory hearings, workshops, and industry events, as required.
D. Required skill set:
- Proven ability to lead multiple consulting engagements and manage complex assignments in a fast-paced consulting environment.
- Strong experience in financial, tariff, and regulatory modeling specific to the power sector.
- Hands-on expertise in policy and regulatory due diligence, PPA approvals, fuel cost analysis, credit rating support, and regulatory filings for Government and Private Power Utilities.
- Demonstrated experience working with a wide range of stakeholders, including Private, State, and Central Generators, Electricity Regulatory Commissions, Rating Agencies, Government bodies, and Power Utilities.
- Deep understanding of the power sector regulatory landscape, including recent policy notifications, amendments to the Electricity Act, and emerging regulations.
- Excellent leadership, mentoring, and team management capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to senior stakeholders.
- High level of analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.
- Proven ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and presentation tools (PowerPoint, Excel, etc.).
- Strong research orientation with the ability to translate insights into practical consulting recommendations.
E. Education and Experience
- B.E/B. Tech with MBA or PhD in relevant field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in power purchase and state regulatory matters of power sector. Preference will be given to candidates having experience of working in Tamil Nadu
