Job Objective -
To lead and deliver end-to-end mechanical, electrical, and automation execution for water and wastewater projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and quality-compliant project completion, while driving seamless coordination across engineering, vendors, and stakeholders.
The role is accountable for installation, integration, commissioning, and handover of MEP and automation systems, ensuring alignment with design specifications, safety standards, and operational performance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Management
- Lead and manage mechanical, electrical and automation scope for water projects.
- Prepare project execution plans, manpower planning, and resource allocation.
- Monitor site progress and ensure timely completion within budget.
- Coordinate with client, consultant, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Review and approve electrical shop drawings and technical submittals.
2. Equipment Installation
- Supervise installation and alignment of:
- Pumps (Submersible, Centrifugal, Sludge pumps)
- Blowers (Roots, Turbo)
- Aerators and mixers
- Clarifiers, thickeners, and decanters
- Bar screens, grit chambers, and sludge handling systems
- Ensure proper erection, grouting, and alignment as per manufacturer specifications.
3. Piping & Mechanical Systems
- Supervise fabrication and erection of MS/SS/DI piping.
- Review isometric drawings and piping layouts.
- Monitor welding quality, hydrotesting, and pressure testing.
- Ensure proper supports, expansion joints, and vibration control.
- Oversee installation of valves, actuators, and flow control devices.
4. Electrical Systems
- Oversee installation and commissioning of HT/LT panels, MCC, PCC, VFD panels, and generator systems.
- Review Single Line Diagrams (SLD), load calculations, and cable sizing.
- Supervise cable laying, termination, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
- Ensure compliance with local electrical regulations and safety standards.
- Manage power distribution for pumps, blowers, aerators, and other process equipment.
5. Instrumentation & Control
- Supervise installation and calibration of field instruments:
- Flow meters (Electromagnetic, Ultrasonic)
- Level transmitters (Ultrasonic, Radar)
- Pressure transmitters
- Online analyzers (pH, DO, MLSS, Chlorine)
- Ensure proper loop checking and I/O verification.
- Review P&ID and control philosophy documents.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and control-related issues.
6. PLC & SCADA Systems
- Hands-on knowledge of PLC platforms such as:
- Siemens
- Allen-Bradley
- Schneider Electric
- Review PLC architecture, I/O list, and interlock logic.
- Supervise PLC panel wiring, FAT, SAT, and commissioning.
- Coordinate SCADA development and integration with plant operations.
- Ensure automation systems meet process control requirements for water treatment.
7. Commissioning & Handover
- Lead pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Conduct dry and wet trial runs of pumps, blowers, and treatment systems.
- Prepare commissioning reports and as-built documentation.
- Support client training and final handover documentation.
8. Documentation & Compliance
- Monitor BOQ quantities and cost control.
- Ensure quality inspections and testing records.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Ensure strict adherence to HSE and electrical safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Over 20 years of experience in Water/Wastewater projects.
- Strong exposure to STP/WTP/ETP automation systems.
- Experience in EPC project execution preferred.
- Strong leadership and team management ability.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in electrical & PLC systems.
- Good communication and client-handling skills.
- Ability to manage multiple sites simultaneously.
