Job Description

Summary of Role :

To lead end-to-end logistics operations (Inbound, Outbound, Middle & Last Mile) for steel product movement across pan-India, ensuring operational excellence, cost optimization, timely delivery, and vendor compliance. The ideal candidate will have prior experience managing logistics for steel, heavy engineering, or related industrial segments, and must be highly data-driven and proficient in Excel/Google Sheets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage First Mile, Middle Mile, and Last Mile logistics operations across India
  • Develop strategic route planning, vendor negotiations, placement planning, and cost control
  • Lead logistics for high-tonnage and multimodal (road, rail) movements
  • Track and report performance metrics (OTIF, transit time, damage rate, etc.)
  • Prepare and manage RFI/RFP/RFQs and lead vendor evaluations
  • Create and maintain MIS dashboards, logistics reports, and cost trackers using Excel/Google Sheets
  • Monitor vehicle utilization, shipment turnaround, and loss/damage reduction
  • Implement and audit SOPs, KPIs, and process standardization across locations
  • Use data analysis to drive logistics decisions, cost saving, and productivity improvements
  • Ensure team development, vendor coordination, and compliance with safety/statutory norms
  • Coordinate with internal teams like Sales, SCM, and Tech for end-to-end visibility
  • Lead a team of 5 to 10 and oversee vendor and partner networks across regions

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, or related field
  • 1218 years of experience in logistics or supply chain roles
  • Experience in steel logistics or heavy goods transportation is highly preferred
  • Proficient in MS Excel and Google Sheets (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, dashboards, etc.
  • Strong analytical, data interpretation, and reporting skills
  • Familiarity with SAP, TMS, or other logistics systems is an advantage
  • Experience in cost optimization, placement planning, and operational KPIs
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage remote operations
