Senior Manager – Learning & Development Operations
Function: Human Resources – Shared Services
Location: India (Bangalore preferred)
Role Summary
The
Senior Manager – Learning & Development Operations is responsible for leading the
execution, governance, and operational delivery of firm‑approved learning programs, as part of the
HR Shared Services organization.
This role serves as the
operational backbone of Learning & Development, ensuring
consistent, compliant, and scalable delivery of learning initiatives that are
prioritized and designed by L&D Capability Strategy (Learning Partners) and Specialist teams.
The role is focused on
operational excellence, control, and scale—enabling learning delivery to run predictably and efficiently across the firm. It does
not have learning strategy, design, or outcomes.
Key Accountabilities
Learning Delivery Operations
- Lead end‑to‑end learning delivery operations, including administration, scheduling, logistics, learner communications, completion tracking, data capture, and issue resolution for approved learning interventions
- Ensure timely, accurate, and compliant execution across instructor‑led, virtual, and digital learning formats
- Drive standardization of delivery processes to enable scale, consistency, and audit readiness
Governance, Controls & Shared Services Excellence
- Own operational governance for L&D delivery, including SLAs, turnaround times, quality standards, and exception management
- Lead capacity planning, workload balancing, backlog control, and demand volatility management to ensure predictable throughput
- Identify systemic risks, delivery constraints, and recurring issues; escalate through defined governance mechanisms with data‑backed insights
Learning Technology Operations (LMS / LXP)
- Own operational usage, configuration hygiene, data integrity, and reporting for LMS and LXP platforms
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of learning data, including enrolments, completions, certifications, and compliance reporting
- Partner with HR Technology and IT teams on system enhancements, integrations, and releases (without owning platform roadmap or vendor product decisions)
People Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and develop the L&D Operations team, with clear accountability for:
- Delivery capacity and throughput
- SLA and quality performance
- Skills development and role clarity
- Build a scalable shared services operating model, reducing dependency on individual effort through strong processes, controls, and team capability
Role Boundaries (Critical)
This Role Does Not Own
- Learning needs diagnosis or capability prioritization
- Learning design decisions or intellectual content
- Measurement of learning impact or business outcomes
- Business advisory or learning solution shaping
These responsibilities remain with
L&D Capability Strategy (Learning Partners) and
Specialist teams.
The Senior Manager – L&D Operations is accountable for
execution quality, data integrity, timeliness, operational controls, and scale once learning solutions are approved for delivery.
Key Interfaces
- L&D Capability Strategy / Learning Partners Receives prioritized learning plans, schedules, and delivery briefs
- L&D Specialists Executes delivery models, logistics, and reporting in partnership
- HR Technology & IT Collaborates on LMS/LXP stability, enhancements, integrations, and reporting
- External Learning Vendors Own the operational interface for leveraging and managing vendors for learning delivery
Success Measures
- SLA adherence and predictable delivery throughput
- Accuracy and completeness of learning data and reporting
- Reduction in manual rework and operational exceptions
- Team productivity, capability uplift, and scalability
Experience & Skills
- 12–15+ years of experience in HR Operations, Learning Operations, or Shared Services environments
- Strong experience managing LMS/LXP operations at scale
- Proven track record in operations leadership, governance, and people management
- Strong control orientation with a data‑driven mindset
- Ability to operate effectively in a high‑volume, execution‑focused environment
