Senior Manager Equity Research

Job Summary
Equity Research professional (9+ years) with strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation methodologies, and sector analysis. The role involves supporting a global asset manager by conducting indepth research on companies, preparing reports, tracking industry trends, and presenting insights to senior stakeholders. Candidates should have a CA/MBA (Finance) or equivalent, with CFA as an added advantage, excellent communication skills, and proven ability to work independently while leading teams. Familiarity with Bloomberg/Reuters/Refinitiv and advanced Excel/VBA/GenAI tools is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- In-depth understanding of the investment lifecycle, how research feeds into portfolio manager decisions, and the unique needs of buy-side clients (e.g., family office, hedge funds, pension funds, mutual funds).
- Support Equity Research team of a global asset manager in carrying out research on a portfolio of companies
- Build detailed financial models (historical and forecasts) including valuation using approaches such as DCF, DDM, Trading and transaction multiples, NAV, SOTP etc.
- Strong accounting skills and its impact on financial data reporting and knowledge of global financial regulations that affect investment research domain
- Write initiation reports, earning notes, quarterly updates, coverage reports, sector reports, newsletters, event updates, theme-based reports, etc.
- Providing ongoing coverage on securities on which research has been initiated once
- Track and monitor regulatory trends impacting the industry
- Listen to and summarize investment conference calls including earnings call, capital markets day, investor day etc.
- Gather insights through investor, management, and expert connects
- Sector agnostic and have strong understanding of various asset class
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex investment theses and reports clearly Problem solving in high-pressure situation such as resolving client conflicts, resource allocation, and complex research challenges
- Leading and developing teams of analysts and managers in dynamic market conditions, evolving client needs, and the adoption of new technologies (like GenAI in research)
- For each security, the analyst will be expected to conduct a detailed analysis covering all relevant aspects which may affect security. The role involves a high level of interaction with senior stakeholders on an ongoing basis wherein the selected candidate will be required to present their work to the client and discuss day-to-day work.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant 8+ years of equity research experience with master's degree
- CA / MBA Finance; CFA added advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts and valuation methodologies
- Expertise in building financial models with forecasting
- Good financial writing skills (beyond factual reporting, such as company description)
- Proven ability to build client rapport and work in sync with onshore teams
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to identify and solve issues effectively on time, eye for details
- Proactiveness and thought leadership
- Critical thinking
- Knowledge of database tools, including Bloomberg, Reuters, Refinitiv and other financial data systems
- Knowledge of VBA, Excel Macros, GenAI tools will be an added advantage Education and experience MBA (Finance) /CA; CFA (US) would be an added advantage
